Laqeramaline Duqa Convalliss is an NPC in Arknights. She is first mentioned in A Walk in the Dust before appearing as a supporting character in Act II of the Main Theme and the Babel event. She is also one of the possible mid-bosses of Sarkaz's Furnaceside Fables as either her younger self or the stronger The Tear Weaver.

Background[edit]

Laqeramaline was the previous "Great Banshee," the leader of the Banshees' Elegiac Court. She was one of the "Six Heroes" who, under Theresa and Theresis' leadership, reorganized all of Kazdel's armed forces and launched an all-out attack against the allied forces during the Great Crusade in the Terran year 898, hence changing the tides of the battle.[4][5][6] For decades, Laqueramaline fought side-by-side with Nezzsalem, another of the Six Heroes, against the enemies of Kazdel, especially Victorians and Gaulish.[7]

After their pyrrhic victory, Laqeramaline made a decision to withdraw the entirety of the Elegiac Court because she was tired of the constant conflicts, thus establishing a settlement hidden from the outside world known as the "Convallis of the Banshee", which cannot be entered by any normal means. Her son, Aefanyl, later succeeded her position as the Great Banshee in the current era.[8][9]

Laqueramaline is known for her gentleness and afection towards Aefanyl, whose birth is considered a miracle for her and her sisters in the Convallis. To cherish her legacy in Aefanyl's memories, she decided to use her witchcraft to preserve her young apperance.[10]

Babel[edit]

In 1031, shortly after news about the fall of Gaul reached Kazdel, Laqueramaline attends the Royal Court's meeting in behalf of the Convalis, where Theresis finalizes the decision to replace the War Council with the Military Commission of Kazdel. She notes Theresa's haggard appearance, asking the King of Sarkaz to prioritize her rest while restating the views Kazdel has on the Banshees of the Convallis. However, she brings out a letter from a lost envoy of the Liches, revealing the positives of Kazdel's drastic changes under Theresa's leadership.[11]

Laqeremaline then states the contents of Fremont's letter to Theresa before handing one to Theresis. While told she is no one's messenger and that she hasn't stated her position, the Great Banshee reveals a similar stance to the King of the Lich Tribe but for different reasons. The Banshee tribe suffered great losses, and the following elegies have yet to cease in her territory. She affirms that the Banshees are willing to help Theresa should she call upon them, but states they are also unable to help in their current state. After witnessing Theresa's Arts and remaining silent as Duq'arael voices his opinions about the change from the War Council to the Royal Court before finally relenting after seeing the point; she and Duq'arael exchange words with the former expressing that when death comes for him, the Great Banshee of the Elegiac Court shall sing to him an elegy delivered by the night wind.[11]
