Elba is an NPC in Arknights. She is a major supporting character in A1 Operations Preparation Detachment and makes a cameo in A Light Spark in Darkness.

Background

Elba is an Infected Reunion messenger and Thunderstone's adoptive daughter, skilled in assassination, recon missions, and Originium knowledge. Despite her recklessness, she's also a sensitive person who really cares for her loved ones. Previously the daughter of a Catastrophe Messenger, she was forced to be separated from her mother desperately a decade ago (The Terran year 1086), when a Catastrophe hit the outskirts of Tkaronto, with the local authorities barring any Infected Messengers from entering. Elba later ended up in an orphanage, but after contacting Oripathy, she was secretly banished to fend for her own until her adoption by Thunderstone. She had been raised by the Red Hands ever since, treated like one of their own comrades.[1]

At one point she met Andrew, a young Infected Perro boy, who initially mistook for a robber. Andrew wanted to sell a crude Originium chunk he found to earn enough money to save his bed-ridden mother, who was also suffering from Oripathy after working on the mines. However, it turns out that the chunk was on it's early stages of activation, meaning that it would explode eventually. Knowing that crude Originium is not valuable, Andrew intended to throw the chunk into the furnace of a local refiery despite being activated, and although Elba managed to seize it with the aid of Damien, and subsequently destroy it inside the furnace, the explosion destroyed most of the refinery. Luckily, Thunderstone would eventually rescue her, Andrew, and Damien from the debris.[1][2]

Story

A1 Operations Preparation Detachment

Elba meets Fang and her friends after they dispersed a brawl in the Infected District, and even uncovered Splitear's fake medications scheme.[3] However, she wouldn't help Fang until the "Black Hornet", a Catastrophe that came in the form of an Originium rain, suddenly hit the city. After the Tkaronto municipal government gave the order to separate the Infected District from the Core City, and knowing that the Catastrophe was advancing fast, Elba convinced Thunderstone and the rest to begin evacuating the residents to the Catastrophe shelters and prepare for the plate separation, as well as helping Fang to reach the emergency broadcast athena to request backup,[4][5][6] However, everything would go south after the Originium rain damaged the plate's movement system. Thunderstone would help Elba and the rest escape, but knowing that his Infection was worsening, he decided to stay behind and sacrifice himself.[7]

Following Thunderstone's death, Elba suffered a breakdown and in an attack of anger, she even attacked Fang with her Arts, infecting her. But that would cause the floor to collapse, making her fall into the abyss. Damien tried to save her, but his fate remains unknown.

In the aftermath of the Black Hornet, Elba was rescued from the ruins by the odd merchant himself, Cannot Goodenough. After regaining concsiousness, Cannot would entrust Elba to Frostnova and the Yeti Squad, so they could take care on her.[8] After some time, Elba became a Reunion member who even took part of the Chernobog Crisis, and later followed Nine, Talulah, and the remnants.[9][10]
