Woodrow Bianchi
Woodrow Bianchi is an NPC in Arknights. He is one of the deuteragonists of Come Catastrophes or Wakes of Vultures.
Background[edit]
A Lateran expatriate and veteran soldier of the Columbian Revolutionary War, Woodrow is a pioneer and sheriff who works at Davistown. He came to the southernmost border alongside his two close friends, one of which being "Clip" Cliff.[1] However, unlike Cliff, Woodrow has a more rational mindset, and believes that any war can only be resolved by the people who wish so. Because of that, they hold contrasting ideals in their life, leading to their estranged relationship.
In 1016, Woodrow and the rebels participated in a rescue operation in Camp Collus, a Victorian POW, on which he was sent as a decoy. The mission deemed as failure after Cliff suddenly changed plans in order to preserve forces, given that the security around the encirclement tightened. This resulted in Woodrow and many others being captured while Cliff simply retreated. During their three years of capture, Woodrow's Sankta comrade suddenly got sick and passed away, while his patron firearm was taken to Victoria. In autumn of 1019, Clip and the Revolutionary Army would finally return to the camp, with Woodrow being the only prisoner left alive.[2][3] The two parted ways after the war, and Cliff founded Blacksteel years later.

Woodrow is first mentioned by Helena as she says that he's off searching for Miles, and with him out of town the thugs have become more aggressive as of lately. He is later mentioned by "Clip" Cliff, in which he asks Jessica to bring the contents of a small bag to him. Jessica asks for any possible details on him to help her find him easier, but Cliff only tells her that she'd know who he is once she saw him. Woodrow makes his first on-screen appearance saving a lost Jessica from a wild beast. Despite what Cliff said earlier, Jessica did not know who he was on sight. Woodrow then brings Jessica back to town with him, and the two of them meet up with Helena and Leone at the diner, only for Woodrow to leave almost immediately.
Woodrow is later seen by Jessica being followed by a roaming bandit. Woodrow gets angry with Jessica for scaring off the bandit, revealing that he's been trying to investigate this for a while now. Woodrow rushes back to town with Jessica after the power outage, and regroup with everyone at Helena's diner. Despite Liskarm telling Woodrow that Blacksteel is waiting on stand-bye to help out when needed, Woodrow disregards them with the excuse that he's not one of her colleagues, and attempts to go to the power plant by himself, with Jessica following him. However both are stopped by Laura returning safe and sound.
Woodrow is later seen conversing with Jessica and another one of Blacksteel's operators about how the collapse of the government in Davistown lead to many of the younger residents to form gangs. Woodrow proceeds to follow some of the bandits that they were tracking.
After Jessica learns that they can possibly pay off Leone's debt if he sells his shares in the mine, then she tries to get Woodrow on board to convince Leone to do it. Woodrow turns Jessica down initially, re-iterating to her that there's no way to get through to Leone. However, after Jessica reveals that Helena convinced her to bring a box of chocolates to try and convince Woodrow, who agrees to at least come with Jessica, but still doesn't try to talk sense into Leone.
After bringing some charcoal back to Leone's house as supposed "apology" for possibly waterlogging the first batch, Woodrow goes back to the diner, and both him and Helena find that it's been in a state of disrepair and is starting to suffer from serious water damage. Woodrow attempts to help Helena fix it, but it's ultimately futile as her upstairs is Flooded up to his knees and the water is full of rust from the pipes. Inspite of that, Woodrow was still able to recover a box of some of her personal belongings.
Woodrow and Jessica proceed to take two of the bandits hostage and question them. He's later seen with Jessica, Helena, Miles, Leone, and Benny in the diner, reminiscing about the time he first met all of them. Two weeks later, the bandits have all started rioting and looting everything, and Woodrow and Helena attempt to protect the diner. When Woodrow pulls out his gun, however, the bandit points out how he only has five bullets left, not even having the full gun loaded, and pointing out that no-one has actually gotten shot by Woodrow in years, suggesting that Woodrow only has these five bullets left. However, Woodrow simply holsters his gun and pulls out his lasso-whip instead to fight them.
Once Blacksteel's landship arrives in Davistown and get the situation under control, Woodrow asks Jessica why she would come back to the diner instead of continuing to great Blacksteel. Jessica reveals to Woodrow that she had been specifically looking for him and had been worried about the Landship's arrival for a while now. Jessica reveals to him all the slimy tactics the bank has been using to get rid of the people of Davistown so the government can re-use the plates for other uses. Jessica also finally reveals to Woodrow that her boss, "Clip" Cliff had sent her to find Woodrow and return the bullet to him. Jessica attempts to convince Woodrow to try and convince Cliff to work with Davistown as opposed to the bank, and Woodrow claims he will "give it his best shot."
After meeting face to face, Woodrow asks Cliff what he should even call him anymore, as Cliff was a new name for Rupert. Cliff asks why Woodrow was late only for Woodrow to say that he had to help some friends. Cliff attempted to offer Woodrow help, but Woodrow turned him down, claiming that help from Cliff was always late. Despite Cliff trying to act like the two are still friends, Woodrow claims he would rather be anything else with Cliff, even claiming that Cliff has no place at Woodrow's funeral. Cliff still insists that Woodrow keep the bullet, as it's all that's left of their friend who died in the POW camp. Woodrow demands Cliff call off his men, but Cliff refuses, saying that the government will just hire someone else to do it. Woodrow, clearly seeing that he can't get through to Cliff, declares that he still cares about the people on the plate, and if anything bad were to happen to them, then he would return the bullet to Cliff in one piece, implying that he would kill Cliff.
Woodrow returns to Helena at the diner, and explains Cliff is the same as he was back then. Helena offers to teach Woodrow to dance, and Woodrow admits that he already knows how and accepts the dance with Helena. The two later go to meet up with Miles as he gets on the bus to the pioneer settlement, and the three say their good-byes.
Upon returning to the diner, they find Sylvia and Leone talking with each other. Sylvia had planned for them to steal the money that Blacksteel had transferred to the bank and take it with them to the frontier so that the pioneers could have it easier. Despite rejecting the idea at first, Woodrow eventually decides to go along with it, along with Helena, Leone, and Jessica.
Woodrow, Jessica, and Helena are next seen readying themselves for the heist, and proceeding as planned. As the alarms are sounded for Blacksteel, Woodrow splits up from the group to buy them some time. Woodrow fights off two of the mercenaries sent by Blacksteel, both of whom claim that they see him as a legendary mercenary due to his time spent with Cliff, and despite fighting a losing battle, the mercenaries claimed to be enjoying it.
Woodrow eventually deviates from the plan and confronts Cliff directly. Woodrow attempts one last time in vain to reason with Cliff, and in his rage, Woodrow declares that he wants to kill Cliff. The two then proceed to get into a gun-fight, in which Cliff finds himself outmatched by Woodrow. Woodrow is about to pull the trigger and kill Cliff, but Cliff's communicator goes off and snaps Woodrow out of his rage. Woodrow in the moment realizes that even if he kills Cliff that someone else will just take his place. Woodrow proceeds to shoot the communicator, tells Cliff that no-one should take his place and that their should be no-one else like him, and surrenders to the mercenaries arriving at the scene to beat up and arrest Woodrow.
Woodrow wakes up three days later to learn that Cliff had sent someone to escort Helena and the money to the frontier. Cliff offers to let Woodrow live out the rest of his days at one of Cliff's penthouses, but Woodrow declines the offer. Cliff gives Woodrow his gun back and the two share a few parting words, with Woodrow promising not to die somewhere Cliff has never heard of, and Cliff promising to not let people force him to keep his eye on his communicator. Woodrow meets up with Jessica, and the two proceed to walk off to the frontier together.
The Masses' Travels[edit]
Jessica and Coldshot is seen attending and treating Woodrow after a wildfire occurred in the Davistown area. Woodrow received significant but treatable burn injuries. However, his physical condition sent both Jessica and Coldshot into distress due to the Lateran Disaster.[4]
