Salus
- Qui'sartuštaj (self-proclaimed "brother")
- Qui'saršinnag (self-proclaimed "sister")
Salus is an NPC in Arknights. She is a minor antagonist in Act II of the Main Theme, prominently in Episodes 13 and 14 .
Background[edit]
While appearing as a Confessarius researcher, Salus is actually a Chimera capable of using the abilities of different Sarkaz branches to her favor. However, her exact origins are unknown.[1] Salus usually spends most of her time in the Confessarii's labs. Her experiments and research revolves around methods such as extracting emotions from memories and creating Chimeras through manipulation of Sarkaz bloodlines.[2][3]
She is also Shining's "sister" and old acquaintance, back when she was still the lead researcher. That, until the latter betrayed them because of the inhuman nature of their experiments and took one of their test subjects, Liz, with her.[2] While she's seemingly not mad at Shining, Salus disregards her decision of taking Liz away, and wants her to give them back their test subject, otherwise her Oripathy would worsen.[2]
Story[edit]
Episode 11[edit]
After Shining met the Confessarii guards, Salus presented herself and told them to move away. She was excited for the dinner party that Qui'sartuštaj was organizing, as she hardly ate good meals given the time she spends in her labs, so she accompanied Shining to the Dinning hall. During the dinner, Salus talked about the experiments she has been conducting in the lab and the results they gave, as well as how her research progress stalled when Shining left.
Salus then asked Qui'sartuštaj about how was Theresis' plan going, and why he was spending more time at his side rather than visiting her in the labs, on which he responded that what he's doing is going to be an impactful moment for every single Sarkaz, even though Salus pointed out that neither he or his predecessor came from a Royal Court. The Confessarius then responds "those unbound by history can truly unshackle power", referring to his intentions.[2]
Finally, Salus asked about how Liz was doing, on which Shining just responded that she was fine. Concerned, Salus stated that neither Kal'tsit could do something to help her, as she's far from being an average Infected person. If Liz' Oripathy worsens due to the experiments on which she was subjected, she would eventually turn into an emotionless "empty shell", and that's why she wanted Shining to come back.
Shining decides to leave the dinner after claiming that Liz is who she considers her family, which angers Qui'sartuštaj. Salus asked her why she's going to leave them and says she could make her to stay a little longer, only for Qui'sartuštaj to stop her.[2]
Episode 14[edit]
Salus was tasked by Nezzsalem to safeguard the pure Teekaz blood. It was produced after the ritual conducted by him and was planned to be used to awaken Amnannam.[4] When Doctor and Amiya were traveling towards Londinium, they found a cave hidden by Confessarii' illusion arts. There, they were ambushed by the chimeras, the result of Confessarii's experiment on Sarkaz and Originium, under Salus' order. Fortunately with the help of Logos, Doctor and Amiya managed to subdue the chimeras and Salus, but the latter got away.[5]
Eventually, Doctor, Amiya, and Kal'tsit managed to catch up with Salus. She was killed by Amiya's Arts but unfortunately, she managed to complete the Confessarius' ceremony to awaken Amnannam by using her own blood.[6]
