Bai Dingshan
Bai Dingshan is a background NPC in Arknights. He is first mentioned at the end of Who is Real and plays an important role in Invitation to Wine.
Background
Bai is a famous Yanese Tianshi who masters supreme lightning Originium Arts in which he could easily suppress the Feranmuts' supernatural power such as tearing off the painted world created by Dusk.[1] As a matter of fact, Bai has been an important figure within the Sui Regulator, and his Arts earns him the title the "Bluethunder Count". However, as chaos prevails across Terra, Bai, along with the Ministry of Rites, believes that Yan must enhance the power of Sui to guard its borders from the encroaching northern Collapsals and the Seaborn from the southern coastlines. On the other hand, Bai himself neither fully supports the Rites nor does he make enemies with the Candleholders of the Sui Regulator, making him the only bridge between the two factions. Meanwhile, as the current head of the Tianshi Bureau, Bai plays his role in the political feud as the third party representing the interest of the Tianshi. If the relationship severs, the balance between the two will be broken, forcing the Tianshi Bureau to choose their side.[2]
Bai has been running his Lei Fa school to teach his lightning Arts to his disciples. Among all of them, Lin Qingyan is his most beloved student whom he have taught her the way of Lei Fa since childhood.[3] At one time, he also encountered the Rim Billitonian bounty hunter, Blacknight, who intended to rob him, but she only found herself attracted by his charm and later devoted her loyalty to him.[4] It is even said that his grand master, the founder of the Lei Fa school, is a monstrous, immortal being who has been guarding the northern borders of Yan for 370 years by implanting Originium inside her.[5]
Despite his honorary titles, Bai prefers to stay low by disguising himself as a wandering story-teller or a potter hidden in Shangshu.
