Alberto Saluzzo is an NPC in Arknights. He is one of the main antagonists of Il Siracusano and a major supporting character in Prelude Suite: Old Scar and I Portatori dei Velluti.
Background
Alberto is the current don of Famiglia Saluzzo, one of the spearheading mafias of the Siracusan Dodici Famiglie. As a stubborn conservative, he is a power-craving man who prefers to resolve his matters through the ancient methods of violence and conspiracies. As a matter of fact, he has been an obstacle for the Bellones and the Rossatis within the political power-struggle. He was able to join the Dodici Famiglie's ranks thanks to the profit he earns from his private vineyards in Brunello, which has even caught the attention of Salvadore Texas.[1] Despite his accomplishments however, Alberto is a control freak and egomaniac who believes that the Saluzzo famiglia thrived in the present only because of his control and nothing he's done can be called wrong. He also deeply believes that the Bellones are always plotting to get an upper hand from him even after their official dissolution.[2]
Even though Alberto has Lappland as his own daughter, he raises her more for the sake of taking his position. On the other hand, Lappland's insanity often disgusts him, causing him to see her more as an untamed wild beast which he cannot restrain. He abused Lappland ever since her childhood, going as far as locking her in a room with a chained manglerbeast.[3] Following the bloody purge onto the Texases in 1092, the enraged Alberto disowns Lappland and banished her from the family forever after she defied her father's order and tried to hunt down Cellinia Texas.[4] Nevertheless, not only Lappland is grateful of her banishment, but also, he sees Alberto as her archenemy for the rest of her life.

Alberto is shown to have opened numerous branches of Saluzzo's winery in Nuova Volsinii. He's seen later propositioning Demetri to become the new owner of the Saluzzo's Winery in Nuova Volsinii to smoothen his business in the city while giving Demetri access to Nuova Volsinii legally.[5] He later warned him that Lappland has been seen in the city for several months already.
After Leontuzzo was hospitalized after getting into a car accident that sends him into a coma for a few days, Demetri came to his winery and accused him of being the mastermind behind the accident. However, it's revealed that his accident is caused by one the trucker from Trucker's Association carrying the Venezia famiglia illegal goods whose truck got caught in a chase between Lunacub and Projekt Red[6] and the president, Eirene Lavazza sought protection from him. Her proposition intrigued him and he accepted her condition of giving him a look of the vehicle. Eirene later went to Nuova Volsinii Port where the truck was supposed to be hidden with him. But instead of the vehicle, what awaits them is a sight of the Carnival Attraction being burned and their presence alone causes the nearby patrolling police officer to arrest them on suspicion.[7] He was later prosecuted and taken to the court alongside Eirene where he witnessed his own daughter sitting next to Texas, as if her presence alone is enough to insult him. He was later freed after Antonio Venezia showed proof that he has no ties to the incident as the truck implicated in the scene was under orders from Venezia famiglia.[8] He was re-arrested a short moment later after he returned to his winery under suspicion of faking his employees identification and credentials.[9] He's seen in the prison later, asking to see either Judge Lavinia or Mayor Leontuzzo but instead his own daughter was the one who came. She later mocked his imprisonment and gave him a carnival suit which she calls his "prison uniform" because he'll stay imprisoned for a long time, much to his bewilderment. She also revealed that the Saluzzo famiglia members has voted to replace him as the Don. Before she visited him, Lappland did get involved in the voting process as a candidate in which she rejected her candidancy as she's been "formally expelled" from the famiglia after which she pointed that Demetri, the first partner of the Saluzzo Winery, is better suited for the task, which he gleefully accepts. The realization of what he's done incensed him further, much to Lappland's delight.[2] He's later escorted back to Brunello by the Nuova Volsinii police force for his trial in the City Court.[10]
Trivia
- Alberto carries an orange on his left hand, which is a direct homage to its symbolism as death in The Godfather series.
- His name may be a reference to the Italian comic book series Lupo Alberto.
