Oren Argiolas is an NPC in Arknights. He is a minor antagonist in Guide Ahead and a supporting character in Hortus de Escapismo.
Background[edit]
Oren Argiolas is a member of Lateran Curia, serving the country of Laterano. Haughty and self-righteous, he is known to be an extreme chauvinist, willing to defend the Holy City no matter the cost. He considers himself as a vigilante protecting the sanctity of Laterano's image and often abuses his status in the Curia to personally dole out justice towards those he considers threats. He is especially biased towards the Sarkaz, whom he considers as a danger not only to Laterano, but to the entirety of Terra.
Oren also doubles as the Duke of Gododdin's Messenger in behalf of Victoria. During the Londinium war, Oren was aboard Gododdin's warship, alebit without taking part of the conflict. He also brought a group of displaced refugees and made an oath by placing his hand on his gun in order to convince the Duke to accept them aboard. The gun's hot barrel left a blister on his hand.[1]

Ending a Grand Overture[edit]
Oren briefly appears to deliver a message from the Duke of Gododdin to Vina and informs her about the Summit of Nations being hosted in Laterano. However, Vina refuses the invitation due to the Parliament not being in possition to adress matters beyond Londinium. Shortly after Oren left, Delphine mentions that Oren was on Gododdin's battleship during the war, though was never involved in direct combat. In all likelihood, Oren was present due to the Sarkaz's major involvement in the war.[1]

Hortus de Escapismo[edit]
Along with Cardinal Aide Lemuen, Oren is dispatched with investigating the Sanctilaminium Ambrosii monastery, which disappeared over 60 years ago. Upon arriving, Oren is alarmed by the presence of Sarkaz mercenaries in the abbey, which he sees as a threat to Laterano's pristine image.[2] As such, he is determined to hide the existence of the Sarkaz's presence through violent means. After managing to convince Pope Yvangelista XI, he brings in a special forces squad consisting of 50 soldiers to eliminate all Sarkaz inhabitants in the monastery.[3] Despite knowing the repercussions of launching a direct assault, Oren believes that he is doing the right thing.
However, Federico prevents Oren from issuing the attack order and buys time for the others to take care of the situation as peacefully as possible. While initially annoyed, Oren is pleased that the situation was resolved without Laterano's image being "materially affected."[4]
