Zubayr is an NPC in Arknights. He is a major supporting character in Inudi Harek, Horakhet.

Background

Born Zubaydah-Anhur-Ayush, Zubayr was the youngest son of Lugalszargus, the greatest Shahanshah in Sargonian history. Despite being physically weaker than his sister, the young Zubayr was known for his bravery and military exploits, which would led him to become the commander in-chief of Lugalszargus' garrison, protecting him in countless battles. However, not only he felt dissatisfied with his own efforts, but also concerned about Lugalszargus, as he became more and more relentless in battle ever since the Khagan's Nightzmoran horde arrived to Sargon, even challenging him to a fight.[1][2]

In the Terran year 15, Zubayr was part of Lugalszargus' army that marched towards the Foehn Hotlands to fight the "demonic" forces there. Before his disappearance, Lugalszargus shared with him teh exact location of his treasure trove, located beneath modern day Menat-Ha'mait and ordered him to give all of his fortunes to the Nightzmoras once they arrived. Problem was that this information could've easily spell trouble, even attracting his half brother's attention, who just recently ascended to the throne. At some point later on, Zubayr helped his half brother in quelling an uprising against his reign. As his health condition started to deteriorate due to the injuries he suffered in combat, Zubayr willingly decided to become a Zhayedan in order to fulfill his father's wish; to protect the treasure trove no matter what it takes, waiting for His majesty to return.[3][4]

For centuries, Zubayr remained vigilant at the doors of the treasure trove, waiting patiently for a visitor that never came. As time passed, the legend of the Shahanshah's treasury attracted many craftsmen and treasure hunters to settle down in Menat-Ha'mait. Three centuries ago, the gathered armies of a Padishah and various Lords Ameer found the village. They demanded the villagers to led them to the treasure trove, otherwise those who didn't cooperate will have their hands chopped. An old craftsman who had lost his hands accepted to lead the way, but they would find themselves in front of Zubyar. Although he was defeated, they couldn't open the trove's gate without his magic. Enraged, the Padishah's army cut open and salvaged all of Zubayr's gems, which stored his consciousness. As a result, he didn't wake up despite the craftsman's young child's eff forts at rebuilding his body. As the child grew up, he buried Zubayr's body and settled a gem exchange bazar.[3]

A thousand years later, Zubayr's body was found and send to the Varjavandabad Museum in Menat-Ha'mait, which became part of the "Unknown Generals from the Shah's Era" anniversary exhibition. After being accidentally resurrected by Pepe, he decided to retrieve all of his lost gems and resume his duty.
