King Henry Alistair Victoria II is an NPC in Arknights. He is firstly introduced as a background NPC in Act II of the Main Theme and Terra: A Journey before appearing in Ending a Grand Overture.

Background

Alistair was the son of Frederick III, the "Conqueror of Gaul", and the last Aslan king to ever rule Victoria. Little is known about his deeds as a monarch, although he was known for his patriotism. In Terran year 1072, due to the empire's wealth slowly depleting as a consequence of their constant participation in conflicts, Alistair, under guidance of his old friend Robert, the Duke of Cumberland, implemented a highly unpopular policy which taxed the greedy nobles of the Parliament, who were distributing the spoils amongst themselves.[1]

The Parliament's nobles, who believed that Alistair violated the constitution, weren't eager to accept his tax policy, so they instigated a civil uprising against the royal family in Londinium. Alistair was captured in the Palace of Westhaleg and later hanged at the gardens of the Royal Palace alongside the Duke of Cumberland. Rather than receiving a proper burial, Alistair's body was left to rot inside the palace, locked in his former throne room[2][3][4] Before walking towards the gallows, he secretly ordered his loyal officers to take his daughter, Vina, out of the Auchterigg Borough, before she was rescued and hidden away by Gawain.

With no appointed successor, Victoria remained without a monarch until recent times; Its political influence began to deteriorate, only held together by the status quo imposed by the Eight Grand Dukes throughout their power. Alistair's execution on the other hand became quite possibly the most mysterious unresolved case in Victoria due to the lack of notable signs or even a trial against Henry or the insurgents led by the Parliament. Many theories have been proposed by the commonfolk, yet no one has found a concrete piece of evidence that could support them. Meanwhile, those curious enough to investigate further would "disappear" without a trace — most likely being "silenced" by the Parliament.[5][6]
