The Liberi (both singular and plural) are an Ancient race in the world of Arknights.

Description

"Liberi" is an umbrella term referring to any Ancient and Elder race who either have the traits of birds (class Aves) in our world, i.e., feathers growing on their hair and structures resembling tail feathers on their torsos, or feather-like features. Along with feathers, they also possess a good sense of hearing and eyesight.[1][2] Some Liberi possess the traits of various bird-like mythological creatures in our world, while others resemble anthropomorphic avians.

Generally speaking, Liberi are a medium-sized race with females being slightly shorter. Their physical fitness is relatively average at best, and they are considerable lighter in weight that other races. Liberi also have one of the largest population in Terra having many Ancient and Elder branches. The most famous of the Elder Liberi are the Hippogryphs, the former ruling class of the Empire of Hippogryph that was later overthrown by the Ursine rebels led by Igor the Great in Terran year 31. Due to its complexity and its enormous population that gives birth to many different cultures, many Liberi anthropologists urge to further divide the Liberi into different new races, but oppositions argue that cultural differences should not be mixed with biological traits.[3]

Liberi are the predominant race of Iberia, and both Laterano and Columbia have a vast majority of them. Following the independence of Columbia in 1019, a large number of Liberi immigrants across Terra was absorbed into the newborn country. According to a Liberi immigrant census published by Columbian authorities, the reason of their decision to settle in Columbia is not only for the possibility of starting a new life, but also the mysterious charisma of President Mark Max who has become a popular figure among the Liberi community.[3] The Lateran Liberi population, on the other hand, are descended from the hunter-gatherer tribes that arrived to the outskirts of Laterano millenia ago who were attracted by the Sankta's sacred religion.[4] Some of these Liberi followers later left Laterano to settle at the southern coastlines of Terra where they founded Iberia in hope to create a second paradise on the shores.[5] Aside from these three nations, Gaul was once ruled by a dynasty of Liberi before its fall in the War of the Four Nations.

Subraces

As stated above, the term "Liberi" encompasses any race with feathers, which results in some races who are biologically not Liberi to be categorized as Liberi subraces due to their feathers.

  • Hippogryph
  • An unnamed subrace which Archetto belongs to. Members of this subrace have the traits of griffins and are basically Liberi with partial Aslan traits, notably a leonine tail.
