Steam or Vapor is an operation mechanic in Arknights, introduced in So Long, Adele.

Overview

Courtesy of Dolly's geothermic powers which many of his Little Black Sheep also possess, Steam comes in two types: Carmine Steam and Pure White Steam.

  • Carmine Steam deals 250 Arts damage and inflict 350 Burn Damage to the friendly units within one when created; enemies inside it will have the Physical and Arts damage they take reduced by 75%, while friendlies inside have the damage they take increased by 50%. Carmine Steam can be created by most SL enemies (see Interactions).
  • Pure White Steam is the antithesis to Carmine Steam; it reduces the Physical and Arts damage taken by friendly units within by 75%, and increases the damage taken by enemies within by 50%. Pure White Steam is created with the Steam Soda Bottle and when a friendly unit adjacent to a Decorative Geyser attacks an enemy on ground tiles.

Both types of Steam cannot be present in one tile at the same time; the most recently created one will overwrite the old one. They also cannot be created on walls/obstacles and tiles adjacent to a Decorative Geyser. Effects that deals damage and creates Carmine/Pure White Steam applies the former before the latter, thus the modifiers are calculated for the previous Steam if it would overwrite one.

Creates Carmine Steam on tiles passed through while being stacked with a Hot Spring "Mischievous/Jolly Rascal".

Their explosion on the first attack creates Carmine Steam on their target's position and the adjacent tiles.
Fashion Street "Stellar Caster"
Fashion Street "Supernova Caster"
Their attacks can hit up to three targets within range simultaneously while inside a Carmine Steam.
"Fluffy Buddy"
Will be hidden until the tile they are on is covered by any Steam, at which the Fluffy Buddy will burst to cause varying effects depending on the Steam:
  • If made to burst by a Carmine Steam, adjacent friendly units take Arts damage and Carmine Steam will be created on their position.
  • If made to burst by a Pure White Steam, adjacent friendly units are healed and Pure White Steam will be created on their position.
Dolly, "Sovereign of Sheep"
  • Attacks create Carmine Steam on the target's position in the Airy Dolly form.
  • Elated Firebreathing covers the affected tiles in Carmine Steam.
  • Unintentional Explosion causes all Carmine Steam to detonate, dealing Arts damage equal to half of Dolly's ATK and 250 Burn Damage over the adjacent tiles.
  • Creates Carmine Steam on tiles passed over in the Frantic Dolly form.
