Spawns {amount} <{true form}> when defeated.
—Traits of Waregeists

Waregeist (a portmanteau of ware as in "housewares" and geist, German for "spirit" as in poltergeist; Chinese: 器伥, lit. "vessel spirit") is a unique enemy mechanic in Arknights.

Overview[edit]

Must be damaged {amount} times (by Arts or True damage) to defeat.
—Traits of Waregeists' true forms

Waregeists are Apparitions that materialize themselves from various objects, ranging from housewares to weapons, through the power of the black goblet created by Wang. Their sudden appearance throughout Shangshu amidst the conflict over the goblet resulted in chaos across the Yanese nomadic city.

Waregeists behave like regular enemies, but the difference is that all of them will revert into their true forms when defeated. Unlike the Waregeists themselves, their true forms do not attack, cannot be blocked, are excluded from the enemy counter, and instead of taking damage normally, they require a certain amount of hits to be defeated with some also can only be harmed by Arts or True attacks.[note 1] This makes Waregeists one of the most annoying enemies in the game, since unless through damage-over-time effects (e.g. Ethan's Fancy Maneuvers and Ifrit's Pyroclasm), Operators with low attack interval, and especially distance-based damage debuffs, most Waregeists' true forms cannot be taken out fast enough before they slip past friendly units and potentially reaching Protection Objectives, as they do penalize the player's Life Points when leaked. Stalling the true forms with crowd-control effects will help in buying friendly units time to take them out.

Trivia[edit]

  • Because Waregeists' true forms are not included to the enemy counter, it is possible to leak some of them in Annihilation without affecting the final result.

Notes[edit]

  1. Technically all Waregeist true forms have their HP in single-digits or double-digits, and all instances of damage they take are reduced to 1; for those who require Arts and True attacks to destroy, all instances of Physical and Elemental damage they took are reduced to 0 while Arts and True damage instances are reduced to 1.
