Shieldguards are deployable devices in Arknights.

A Guerrilla Shieldguard who fights alongside Rhodes Island in the memory of Patriot, Shieldguards have respectable overall stats, but cannot be actively healed by friendly units (passive healing will heal them) and Taunts enemies, thus they are capable of distracting and holding back enemies, giving the Operators an opportunity to dispatch them.

The Shieldguards are always pre-deployed in the operations they are featured.
Though some friends may be willing to share your pain, you should perhaps reach out to them.
If the player managed to keep all four Shieldguards and Rosmontis from being defeated/knocked out by the end of M8-6, EG-2 will be unlocked.

In Expeditioner's Joklumarkar, triggering the Accord effect of Foldartal-Silence.png Silence causes Shieldguard(s) to spawn in the operation(s) determined by the Layout Foldartal it is paired with. The amount of Shieldguards vary with each use of the Foldartal combination, at least one or two, and they will usually be in tiles close to Protection Objectives.
