The Kuranta (both singular and plural) are an Ancient race in the world of Arknights.

Description

Grani, a notable Kuranta

Kuranta have the traits of equines (Equus sp.), i.e., horses, donkeys, and zebras. Their equine traits can be noticed such as funnel-shaped ears, tall stature, and tails being either bushy being nicknamed the "skirt" or simply having tufts of long hair at the bottom of the tail dock. Although lacking the physical strength on par with the Ursi and Fortes, Kuranta possess an enduring stamina that grants them the ability to run at high speeds with little to no fatigue.[1]

Kuranta are a common Terran race, and among all nations, Kazimierz houses the predominant population of Kuranta. The Kazimierzian knighthood is believed to have emerged from early Kuranta nomadic confederations wandering across the grasslands. In order to defend themselves from invaders, these early knights organized themselves into a strong military defense by designating strict and rigid hierarchical orders to their family members with the family head serving as the leading knight; in modern Kazimierz, this is known as the "knight family" led by a "Knight Primus." Even in modern Kazimierz where commercialism triumphs everything, the knight-family tradition is still well-preserved through the Knights' Association.[1]

Kuranta also includes several Elder subraces. The two notable Elder Kuranta are the Pegasi and the Nightzmoras. The former are the previous royal house of Kazimierz before being toppled by the knights in Terran year 13, and the latter originates from the Nightzmoran Khaganate under the leadership of Kharanduu Khagan. Owing to the Nightzmoran Conquests, the Kuranta were scattered across every corner of Terra which in turn formed an abundant population. In the modern era, the tales of both Pegasi and Nightzmoras remain popular among the Kuranta.[1]

The Kuranta's excellent stamina makes them talented soldiers, especially those who undergo adequate physical training and studies of military science. According to disclosed documents provided by the Adeptus Sprawiedliwi Kazimierz, during the Tenth Ursus-Kazimierz War of 1062, a legion of Silverlance Pegasi managed to outpower several Ursine landships and even halted their advance through mere muscular strength. The Ursine side acknowledged the event's veracity although they do not elaborate much on the incident.[1]
