The Adeptus Sprawiedliwi Kazimierz is a Terran organization and a supporting faction in Near Light. It is one of the three ruling bodies of Kazimierz along with the National Council and the Knights' Association and the de jure central government of Kazimierz that oversees military and law enforcement and is responsible for national defense and foreign diplomacy.
The Adeptus is one of the three Kazimierzian factions that the player can establish relations with through the Prestige system in NL alongside the Kazimierz General Chamber of Commerce and the Armorless Union.
Background[edit]
The Adeptus' origin could be traced back to the classical alliance of the knight-nobles who overthrew the Pegasian royal house by the dawn of the common era following their failed campaign against the Nightzmoras and established a "noble's democracy" that united the Kazimierzian fiefdoms.[3] In the Adeptus, the Grand Knight is both the head of ministry and the head of state of Kazimierz, and their ministers possess the power to assemble a central government and execute its executive rights. Members of the Adeptus are both government ministers and knights, reflecting Kazimierz's stratocratic tradition.[4]
Because of its military background, the Adeptus’ armed forces highly value one's proficiency rather than on background or social rank, although the latter do play an important role in acceptance to the Adeptus for a knightly family. The campaign knights of the Adeptus can be divided into four ranks: Senomy holds the fourth rank, which is considered to be the lowest of the rank and at the margin of the middle class in chivalric hierarchy,[5] whereas Vogelweide, a seasoned veteran, holds the second prior to his retirement..[6]
Due to the historical dominance of the nobility and their retainers in Kazimierz's military, the Adeptus is still considered to be representing the noble class' interests. While they are not above using conspiracy and intrigue to their own ends, the Adeptus campaign knights generally consider themselves to be of higher integrity than most competition knights of the K.G.C.C. which is seen as the source of much decadence and corruption in Kazimierz. Likewise, the K.G.C.C, in particular its more radical executives, see the Adeptus as a bastion of the old ways, clinging to the past and traditions that will inevitably slip away from their grasp as the modern age marches onward.
