The Scutum is a static device in Sarkaz's Furnaceside Fables.

Summoned by Buldrokkas'tee, Paladin Gun-Knight using his Automated Rite of Guiding, Scutums are summoned in preset locations and cannot be attacked by enemies or allies alike. However, they will halve the Physical/Arts damage taken by friendly units adjacent to them, which makes them useful for sheltering against Buldrokkas'tee's devastating attacks.

Note that Scutums will naturally vanish after 120 seconds (decreased to 80 seconds on Face the Revenants +13 difficulty), and will be instantly destroyed if an Paladin Automaton comes into contact with one, the latter of which will also cause the Automaton to explode as if it entered a Protection Objective, potentially dealing massive damage to the entire lineup and reducing the player's protection if not intercepted.
