Zwillingstürme im Herbst

Set in the autumn of 1100, Zwillingstürme im Herbst (German for "The Twin Spires in Autumn") is the grand Leithanien arc featuring the 23th anniversary of the coronation of the Twin Empresses in the capital of Zwillingstürme. Viviana and Ebenholz were summoned by the Empresses to return to the homeland, and Federico the Executor of Laterano continues his hunt on Arturia in the capital. In the meantime, the ceremony will soon turn into the a ritual for the return of the evil Witch King by his Remnants that will later end with a tragedy to the Empresses known as the "Stimmverlust."

Die Gnade ist Ewig

Zu den Zwillingstürme

Twenty-three years ago in September 1077, the Twin Empresses and the Kurfürsten initiated the Septemberrevolution to overthrow the tyrannical rule of Kaiser Herkunftshorn the Witch King, ending an era of darkness in Leithanien. To commemorate the liberation war, the Das Kaiserinnensfest ("The Empresses' Festival") is held every year in the capital of Zwillingstürme under its Twin Spires. Through a majestic royal orchestra led by the Empresses, the Leithanian musicians will perform the Güldenesgesatz, the magical constitution of Leithanien manifested in form of musical scores, to bless the country of peace and prosperity in generations to come. And now, in autumn 1100, a new century on the Terran calendar, the coronation has reached its twenty-third anniversary.

Not everyone enjoys the festival, though. To the Remnants of the Witch King, claiming themselves as the "Echoes of Herkunftshorn," they despise this event as a blasphemy to their greatly venerated evil overlord. So, the Remnants plot to create havoc in the Kaiserinnenfest and hijack the thrones, and their ultimate aim is to revive both the Witch King and his oppressive rule. As the festival draws nigh, they secretly assassinate involvers of the Septemberaufstand and then steal handwritten copies of the Güldenesgesatz. If fallen into their hands, the Güldenesgesatz will definitely be violated, which in turn bring havoc to the empire. Among the victims, one of them is Kurfürst Werner von Hochberg, the father of Viviana Droste the Candle Knight, who died by the Remnants' hand while in his sick bed. Viviana is already on her way from Kazimierz to meet her dying father for the last time while obeying an order given by the Empresses, but she never makes it. Worrying that Viviana could become their next target, Cora Löwenstein, the Hochberg's attendants and the Empresses' servant, and Viscount Brandt Reiner the leading Gesatzswächter offer their protection onto Viviana. With permission given by Lieselotte Ewigegnade the white Empress, Viviana is allowed to investigate the case under the name as a candidate of the Empresses' Voice.

Meanwhile, Federico Giallo, the Executor and Saint of Laterano, quietly infiltrates Zwillingstürme. Since the tragedy in Sanctilaminium Ambrosii, Federico has been quietly tracking down Arturia for two years, and he learns that she both receives protection from the Leithanian Kurfürsten and secretly collaborates with the Witch King's loyalists. So, he seeks collaboration with Loris Bordin, a former Lateran who is now the captain of Zwillingstürme Gendarmerie. Being a Saint of Laterano, Loris has to handle him very cautiously to prevent possible diplomatic disagreement. Yet Federico urges him to prioritize arresting Arturia out of worry that her ego liberation Arts will bring grave consequences.

Ebenholz, the young Graf Urtica, returns to Leithanien as well after he receives order from the Empresses. The young man holds grudges against both the Witch King and the Twin Empresses, so he wants to end his own misery. Despite knowing that he will become a prey of the Remnants due to his bloodline, Ebenholz faces no fear in front of those lunatic cultists.

The Empresses' side is not calm either. Hildegard Grimmmacht, the ruthless black Empress, seeks to retrieve the dark legacies of the Witch King. Many aristocrats fear that she will follow the footstep of Herkunftshorn, but her aim is to seal them up and for all. Her plan includes summoning Ebenholz back to Leithanien to lure him in recovering his Voice of Terra. She requests the Liches, the Sarkaz tribe who has been hiding in Leithainen for centuries, to aid her, and the Liches dispatch Lessing Maeyer to bring Ebenholz back. She also orders her servant, Michael Wolfgang, son of the Lupukarn rulers and an Empress' Voice, to quietly supervise the Remnants' movement.

Erinnerungen an Ringelblume

Der Tod des Hexenkönig... An eerie name which evokes the haunting past of the Witch King. Yet Arturia feels such painting fits its name well.

At Karl-Schmidt Street, the "Marigold Avenue," Zwillingstürme, the Gendarmeries are investigating a mysterious death case that might have connection with the Remnants' movement. The deceased, Frieda Seemann, is suspected to be a Remnant who once served the Witch King as his royal artist. She simply dies of exhaustion inside the art gallery after completing her final work, but the work brings eerie feelings to the investigators—an artwork that she titled Der Tod des Hexenkönig, "The Death of the Witch King." Viviana gets the chance to see it, and in front of her is a canvas smudged by black Originium paint which many believe to be a curse by the Witch King. Viviana also encounters Arturia inside the gallery. Arturia praises Frieda to be an excellent artist who is bound by the wrong era, yet she congratulates her in the end for pursuing her own true desire by giving her whole life to the Witch King until the end. On the other hand, Arturia's words do give hints regarding Werner's last moments, prompting Viviana to investigate more.

Loris and Federico meet some law-breakers outside the gallery during the investigation. They apprehend several teenagers attempting to follow the mind of the Remnants, including Loris' acquainted Jan Schüler who is molding a mini stone spire. According to Jan, he sees a vision of the ultimate return of the Witch King through Der Herkunftshorn ("The Genesis Horn"); the Witch King's Spire that was supposed to be dismantled after his death. Loris believes that both Seemann's last work and the rumor do have connection with the Remnants' movement; Seemann's death is a declaration of their movement.

On Ebenholz's side, he encounters Lessing who orders him to follow him for his own safety, but the young Graf mistake him as a Remnant seeking for the Arts inside him, bringing conflicts between the two. The fight continues into the underground sewage where Ebenholz encounters the Remnants. Ebenholz puts up a tough fight, but the Voice of Terra inside of his mind starts to act up and he struggles to keep resisting.

Meanwhile, Federico and Loris head to Forest Park upon detecting traces of arts nearby. Upon hearing the sound of a cello playing, Federico promptly moves towards Forest Park while Loris stays behind. Unbeknownst to Federico, the cello music was a ruse by Arturia to separate him from Loris. Loris immediately falls into Arturia's Arts and his deepest regrets start to surface. He considers himself a failure despite being honored to be a rebel against the Witch King's tyranny; he fails to look after Jan after the disappearance of his sister Yulia Schüler and has degenerated into a man without moral. Nevertheless, Arturia's Arts frees him from his emotional bondage and unleashes his deepest heroism once again, and the Liberi officer charges into the sewers where Ebenholz is fighting.

Loris manages to buy Ebenholz some time to escape, but as a result he is petrified into a horrible statue by the Remnants' Arts. Federico arrives at the scene too late and confirms the Gendarmerie commander's death. Federico attempts to retrieve Loris' corpse, but Micha persuades him to leave before the Gendarmerie arrive. Unfortunately, the Gendarmerie arrive sooner than expected, and upon witnessing the scene, immediately assume that Federico and Micha are the culprit. The two are forced to flee the scene to avoid capture.

As Viviana dives into the avenue of marigold, she seems to have seen the romantic past of her dearest parents

Viviana and the gang continue to figure out the clues between Werner's death and Seemann's last work. Cora reminisces of the past where Werner first met her mother Lucinda Droste during Seemann's poetry gathering. As Viviana dives into the past, she could literally feel the moment as if she is part of it, and she even sees an illusion of her mother. Without Cora's and Brandt's interruption, Viviana would have lost in the illusion created by Arturia's musical Arts. The group find themselves surrounded by the Remnants whom they claim to be under the order of the "Concertmaster". Brandt takes the charge and fights the Remnants while Cora brings Viviana to safety.

Federico and Michael notice the music as well. They find someone who has a recording of the music and Federico immediately notices that Arturia's Arts is being amplified via a huge pipe organ, one that is only found in a certain university. On Viviana's side, she wishes to understand Seemann's last vision through the draft of her last work. By casting his Arts, Brandt is able to recreate the scene when the rebels broke into the Witch King's Spire, and Cora could "listen" to the different vibrations in the Originium paint on the canvas. Upon uncovering the first draft, they pinpoint a man named Gerhard Hoffmann, a former attendant of the Witch King who is now a university professor, and he might be the important clue in recovering the lost score as he would become the Remnants' next target. All the keys point towards the Ludwigs-Universität—the university where the Urtica family, the house of the Witch King, has been studied for generations.

Der Herkunfsthorn Erwacht

"It's time to wake up, my lord. You will never escape the shadow of His Majesty."

Ebenholz wakes up from his coma, and he realizes he is inside an underground cell in the Ludwigs-Universität. He sees Lessing, Gerhard, and an old, grumpy professor named Fremont attempting to extracting the Voice of Terra from his head. But it seems the gang are not in agreement. Lessing and Fremont want to keep it for safety, but Gerhard has another idea which Fremont criticizes to be a maniacal plan. Ebenholz blindly follows Gerhard's words but only finds himself trapped. From the very beginning, Gerhard seeks to revive the Witch King through the Voice of Terra, and he wants to use it to summon Der Herkunftshorn as he sees the era of the Empresses is worse than the Witch King's tyranny. And being surrounded by the hidden Remnants, Ebenholz has become a helpless sacrifice for their ritual.

Viviana, the Gendarmerie, and even the Empresses' Spire Casters have surrounded the university and quickly evacuated the students. The gang immediately begin their search for Gerhard by uncovering the underground cell, but Fremont angrily stops their way by unleashing his "Exile"—a unique Sarkaz witchcraft that could manipulate space. It turns out Fremont is in fact the Lich King of the Sarkaz Royal Court, and he has to prevent them from interfering with the Liches' migration back to Kazdel after recovering the Witch King's legacies. In the meantime, Michael shows up after parting with Federico to assist Fremont under the name of Empress Hildegard.

Der Herkunftshorn, The Horn of Genesis, once again appears on Leithanian soil

Just then, abnormalities arise around in the university. Firstly, there is a musical tune flowing around which affects the students' mind. They begin scolding each other and despise their social status, leading to a chaotic riot. Knowing this being Arturia's Arts, Federico alone heads on to hunt her down at the tower, only to be affected by the Arts of the statues around. Nevertheless, Federico easily dodges the attack and pursue after his cousin. Then, Gerhard and the Remnants' attempt to extract Ebenholz's Voice of Terra is immediately interrupted by Lessing and Fremont, and Gerhard unleashes his second plan: summoning the Spire through the stolen score. The ground trembles, and a dark Spire penetrates from the building. Everyone in the university recalls the dark legends of his Spire that could summon Catastrophic clouds, Originium shards, and dark flames which engulfed the Gallic fleet, bringing panic to the crowds. The Gendarmeries and the Casters struggle to summon a protective barrier that shield off the Spire's flames which will soon engulf the place. Viviana summons her candle light and manipulates shadow to provide shelter for the students from the flames. Even Arturia gladly performs her climax as a commemoration for the Spire's arrival which she proclaims she has found a clue for her long quest in search for the strongest emotion that has ever existed.

Fortunately, Empress Hildegard arrives at the spot and literally dismantle the Spire with her sword, and she mocks it to be a mere sham. The Gendarmeries are now able to both arrest all the Remnants and restore order to the university. Federico successfully puts Arturia under his check, and the Empresses' Caster arrives soon to take her under custody for her crime. As promised, Empress Hildegard receives what she wants from the Liches. As for Gerhard, after being affected by both the side effects of the Witch King's Arts and Arturia's Arts, he personally seeks death by crazily leaping off from the tower to liberate his poor soul.

And so, twilight has arrived at Zwillingstürme, but the long night has only just begun.

Die Macht ist Grimm

Das Güldenesgesatz erklingen

"Emm... Herr Federico, are you sure you could play that piano?"
"I can, through my logics."

The Ludwigs-Universität incident is considered case closed to the Empresses, and the imperial court now has to focus more on the Kaiserinnenfest the next day. Nevertheless, Federico wants to help fulfil Loris' last will with the joint help of Michael. From Yong's words, Loris has been bitter by the missing of Julia Schüler for his entire life, and he wishes Federico to help carry on the case. Federico and Michael find nothing in Loris's room but a piano, but Federico's awkward play on the piano enlightens him. He figures out that Arturia might planning for something bigger as she might have other plans to manipulate others' ego through music. So, he seeks Viviana's collaboration under Michael's recommendation to search for clues regarding Arturia's motivation.

On the Liches' side, Fremont helps Ebenholz eradicate the Voice of Terra permanently in exchange for his help in searching for the real legacy of the Witch King. Despite Ebenholz's strong detest, Lessing persuades him by insist that he is the only key in uncovering it and stopping his haunting shadow onto Leithanien. Besides, they have a sense that there might be other Remnants out there still remaining hidden who might bring a new chaos to the approaching Kaiserinnenfest.

The Candle Knight seeks her life question from Arturia the fugitive, and what she gets is a rather warm welcome

Now under custody, Arturia is forbidden in playing any form of musical instrument, and the Caster guards place muting Arts on her. Just then, Viviana gets the chance to meet Arturia by faking the Empresses' order to the guards. While she knows the danger, she wants to seek from her the answer of her father's death and the question of her very existence as an illegitimate daughter of the Kurfürst. Arturia responds that Werner's death is the result of his courage in preserving the score, and being a natural-born counsellor, she encourages Viviana to search for the answer of her life by herself.

After the meeting, Viviana regroups with Federico. Through Arturia's hint, she suspects that the Witch King's Remnants might actually be planning to use his legacy to do harm onto the Güldenesgesatz. She heads on to meet Cora, and persuades her to stop the performance of the Güldenesgesatz, but her response only puzzles Cora. Nevertheless, Cora accepts Viviana's requests and guides her to the hall where the Royal Orchestra performs the score for the festival.

Güldenesgesatz, the Golden Movement, has blessed Leithanien for generations. Now, it is the time for the Leithanians to exhault its name.

The performance of the Güldenesgesatz is about to start as twilight draws near. The Empresses first arrive at the bridge of the Twin Spires to give signal to the conductors. The audience will then follow suit by performing their own instrument. Little by little, the Arts cast by both the orchestra and the audience gathers up as manifestations of golden symphony which acts as a tough barrier to the capital. The Arts too will lift the audience's spirits as they become excited and harmonized by the tunes. Aura of gold paints the twilight clouds, and the capital's belfries ring in order as if they literally sing. This is the Güldenesgesatz that has bound the Leithanians for centuries, and the performance is a ritual that gives thanks to its blessing.

Just as everyone is struck by the magical performance, chaos suddenly breaks out. The Witch King's Remnants have quietly infiltrated the Royal Orchestra, waiting for the right moment to break the harmony. In the meantime, Arturia gets the chance to break free from the prison by utilizing the vibration around the room to paralyze the guards through her Arts. Upon reaching the top of the Twin Spire, Arturia talks to the "Concertmaster" of the Remnants via a statue who wants her song to reveal her deepest wish – to completely destroy the Güldenesgesatz. The side effect of the chaos slowly surfaces; audiences are suffering from severe headache, and the once beautiful twilight is suddenly covered by dark clouds. It is this moment that the Remnants have been waiting for – to welcome the return of the Witch King.

"Thank you, Viviana... for letting me die in your arms."

Amidst the chaos, Viviana decides to reveal the truth she has been hiding for a long while: Cora is in fact the "Concertmaster," the leader of the Remnants, and all the investigations done are all part of Cora's plan. Nevertheless, Cora responds that her position is just a mere "pawn" to lure the Remnants under the Empresses' order. And ironically, the Empresses actually have been turning a blind eye on the Remnants' movement and even quietly supporting them as the two are in fact homunculi born from the Witch King's Arts who seek to have Leithanien freed from the tough control of both the Kurfürsten and the Güldenesgesatz by using his forbidden Arts legacies. Werner's death is in some way her responsibility because the two originally intended to lure them out through the score, but Werner decided to carry the mission by himself until his final days.

Now the truth is revealed; both Viviana and Brandt have fallen in disbelief. But to end the chaos, Viviana chooses a daring step - executing Cora as a punishment to traitors. The Candle Knight stabs Cora in her belly and hugs the dying woman. Cora, on the other hand, is grateful to die in the arms of her dearest child. Meanwhile, Arturia senses the last breath of Cora and congratulates her soul being liberated, stating that she will forever commemorate her in her tunes.

Far above the Twin Spires, the true Herkunftshorn appears among the void, seemingly calling out his loyalists to come to his side.

Yet the darkest hour has just begun. Being excited by the Witch King's return, the Remnants commit suicide one by one, and their bodies suddenly vanish in thin air. Standing above the Twin Spires is the shadow of Der Herkunftshorn – the genuine one hidden within the dimensional crack. Fremont quickly stops Arturia's craze by unleashing his "Exile" onto her, but the moment Fremont does so, everyone who is not affected by the rampaging Güldenesgesatz are suddenly teleported to another dimension. Luckily, Lessing is still around thanks to the Liches' Arts, and with the arrival of Ermengarde and other Liches, they are able to maintain the connection between reality and the dimension through their phylacteries, hence allowing those being trapped inside to return safely.

Der Hexenkönigspavillion

The gang wakes up — albeit seperated from each other — and they find themselves inside a strange extraterrestrial dimension. The Liches call it "the beginning and end of all threads", otherwise known in Leithanian as Kargereich — The Desolate Realm — a place where life and death never exist. There, shadows of historical Leithanian buildings are found everywhere as if this place was an archive of their existence in the past. Much to their surprise, both Federico and Arturia simultaneously meets Yulia Schüler, the missing girl whom Loris has been searching for during the remainder of his life. From Yulia's words, Arturia realizes that the Kargereich is the Witch King's Spire, and the Spire is in fact a void bubble created by his Arts. Fremont too remembers the place too when he recalls his past where he allowed young Herkunftshorn to study the Void, and the old Lich King is shocked that even after his physical death, the Witch King's soul has transcended to the Kargereich and continues his endless study there. Nevertheless, he vows to end his haunting shadow by retrieving back the phylactery that was lent to him. Fremont also makes a worrying signal regarding the Kargereich: it is slowly crumbling apart, despite being a marvelous work that no Sarkaz has ever created, even the greatest Caster in history could no longer hold it due to time.

Arturia humbly bows before the King of Casters in his Pavilion, and she yearns to gain his wisdom for her long quest

Yulia's testimony makes Arturia more eager to personally meet the Witch King, and she follows her guidance to the "Pavilion" — the Witch King's bastion against the chaotic void. Not only she is given first-handed account of the Witch King leading his troops of his loyalists' souls in defending the encroaching darkness, but also, she is amazed of the existence of a brave soul, the answer she has been seeking for years. Being interested by her presence, the Witch King lets her into his Pavilion and accepts her request. There, Arturia wants the Witch King to fulfill a future she has envisioned—a future where people possess flawless ego. She envisions that this kind of ego will not be mere empathic sense among the Sankta, but a shared like-minded heart regardless of races, social status, or anything that could overcome even the most horrible circumstance. The Witch King is interested in Arturia's vision, yet he comments that she herself is the one who is the furthest from that future—a mirror that will only know reflection and never understand the meaning of the logic needed to materialize that future.

The Witch King may be a ruthless tyrant, but he too could be a man of wisdom and a visionary sovereign

On Ebenholz's side, he travels among the endless stairs of the Spire where he sees the different past of the Witch King. There, he sees the other face of the Witch King, not that of a tyrant in others' accounts who rules with an iron fist, but a wise leader who seeks the prosperity of his people and even once saved the empire by personally challenging the Güldenesgesatz. Ebenholz is still baffled that this should not be how the Witch King is portrayed. In turn, the Witch King's soul then slowly guides the young Graf in realizing this fact: his nightmare is never "the Witch King" himself, but the fear imposed by others, a spire that he has to climb out by his own feet. Ebenholz slowly overcomes it by realizing that "the Witch King" which he knows is already long dead, and the young Graf mocks himself that he starts from hating the Witch King to somehow receiving praise by the tyrant. He concludes by proclaiming to forever sever his tie with the Witch King, stating that he is never his direct descendant.

Fremont too enters the staircases of the past where he recalls his friendship with the Witch King. He sees the past where the young Lich King allows the Witch King to study the Kargereich. Despite claiming to be disgusted by such scene, Fremont feels remorse of it. But for the sake of Leithanien's future, he has to topple the Witch King's Spire once again.

Federico follows Yulia's guidance in wandering the Kargereich. The Saint learns that she simply vanished many years ago after being attacked by the Remnants. Technically, she is physically dead, but her soul had transcended into the Kargereich where she could start a peaceful life there. But as the Kargereich becomes more unstable, she knows that there will be a day she will vanish. Just then, a sudden shockwave in the Kargereich damages Yulia's remaining pieces of soul. Before vanishing, she thanks Federico in helping Loris, hence allowing her to rest in peace. In turn, Federico remains silent of her disappearance, having learnt the meaning of feeling for the first time in his life.

The Twin Empresses were born from the Witch King's Arts. And now, they are fulfilling their purpose as tough rivals of his Arts.

The shockwave turns out to be the Twin Empresses forcefully entering the Kargereich through the Liches' aid. Tired of sitting idly, the Witch King rises up for a rematch against the twins. He openly declares his challenge to them as the finale of their struggle, stating that only one of them will live to bring eternity to Leithanien. He claims that he has uncovered the "secret" of Originium and the "Creators" that seeks to destroy civilizations, yet the tyrant is not hesitant to become a monster for Leithanien's beauty and survival. In turn, the Empresses seeks to end his haunting shadow for the sake of their people; they believe it is time for the Witch King to retire into history. A furious clash of Arts follows suits between the Casters. There, the Pavilion bears witness for the final showdown between the Witch King and the Empresses.

The Witch King's mastery of Arts is unchallengeable, but he himself has been gradually exhausted, allowing the Empresses to give a final blow onto him. As the Witch King's soul slowly diminishes, Fremont approaches him for the last time to take back his phylactery. Surprisingly, the Witch King responds that he had returned it to him long ago, and the piece of soul in front of him is just his unwillingness to let go the past. Fremont bids his farewell in bitterness by fully unleashing his "Exile" onto the Witch King, hence erasing his haunting shadow permanently from this world.

Flamme im Chaos

"Fear neither hardship nor darkness," even the Candle Knights sets herself ablaze like a rising sun after a long night

Viviana herself is trapped inside the Kargereich as well, and there she encounters her past self who leads her to various possibilities of her future. All these possibilities end up with tragedies of her parents, and even Cora would have fully betrayed the Hochberg. Viviana closes her eyes and faces those uncertain futures, while chaos is slowly devouring everywhere around her. Yet with her brave soul, she relates herself with the "Last Knight" in the novel whom she admires. Just then, she sees a ray of light, and standing in front of her is a blazing spear with a surprising mark — the emblem of House Nearl. She firmly grabs the spear and penetrates the darkness, allowing her to return to the dimension where she belongs.

The "Exile" of the Witch King's soul comes with a grave consequence: the Kargereich is collapsing in an accelerating speed. Following the collapse, cracks appear within the dimension, and numerous demonic beings slowly creep out from the cracks. All these signifies the encroachment of the Collapsals penetrating the reality, and if they are freed, the entire capital will be immediately devoured by the dimensional crack and spread demonic pollution across Leithanien. So, Fremont sends everyone back to reality while staying behind to uphold the Kargereich with his threads. The Empresses stays back to fend the demonic beings.

"I shall perform a song for the desperate crowd, and the subject of the ego shall be I."

Federico and Arturia are among the first who return to reality, and all they see are the once agitated crowds suddenly fallen into silence and desperation. The Collapsal's psychic power slowly corrodes the people's hearts and minds as they become more than mindless zombies, repeating the same phrases over and over again. Arturia's spirit is still down due to the Witch King's admonishment, yet Federico thinks her Arts is the only key to restore order right now. With that said, Arturia makes another performance on her cello, this time targeting herself, and the Arts that overflows from her cello slowly brings emotions back to the desperate crowd, which in turn cleanses the pollution of the Collapsals.

Die Macht ist grimm, the Ruthless Sovereign, it is she whose menacing wrath halts otherworldly demons in the chaotic void
Die Gnade ist ewig, the Eternal Grace, it is she whose motherly grace pacifies poor souls beneath the heavens

Meanwhile, inside the Kargereich, the Empresses fight their way back to reality, but someone needs to stay back to restore the Pavilion and maintain the space's order. Without hesitation, Empress Hildegard decides to stay back inside the Kargereich while menacingly facing the Collapsals. Her magnificent Arts born from the Witch King's talent immediately brings the collapsing shadows back to its place, including the Witch King's Pavilion. While the crack slowly seals up, Empress Lieselotte cleanses off the remaining demons lurking out to reality. She descends from above, the sky turns clear again, and the shadow of the Witch King's Spire finally vanishes. The Leithanians greatly praise the gentle white Empress for her heroism, yet it was the ruthless black Empress who had sacrificed herself to seal off the dimensional crack.

Goldene Zwielicht

A week has passed after the fall of Der Herkunftshorn. In response to the disappearance of Empress Hildegard, the imperial court declared her "Stimmverlust" to the public. Nevertheless, seeing her potential opponent gone, Empress Lieselotte admits her cunning nature and seeks to surpass both the Witch King's and Empress Hildegard's legacies. Ebenholz decides to stay back in Leithanien in the name of Graf Urtica and wants to restore new order in his old home. Upon receiving Viviana's letter, Młynar hurriedly arrives at Zwillingstürme to eagerly listen to her account regarding the spear she found in Kargereich, which might potentially be a clue to the missing Nearl parents, Schnitz and Yolanta. Brandt forgives himself while thanking Viviana for making the crucial decision despite it costing Cora's life. The Liches, now fully freed of Leithanien's control, could finally bid farewell and aim to return to their homeland — Kazdel, the Sarkaz's Promised Land. Lessing willingly follows the Liches, whereas Michael continues his service as an Empress' Voice though only serving under the name of Empress Hildegard. The two have since been acting as intermediaries for Rhodes Islands with the Leithanian imperial court.

Arturia continues her quest, but she will never forget that golden twilight of Zwillingstürme where she witnessed countless brave souls.

The only question remaining is what to do with Arturia. Federico urges the Empress to extradite Arturia back to Laterano, but Empress Lieselotte refuses, stating that she is still an important guest to Leithanien due to her Arts and her musical talent. Fortunately, Pope Yvangelista XI dispatches a strange drone to persuade the Empress. In turn, the two heads of states quietly exchange information regarding the Kargereich and the upcoming "Apocalypse". Not only Arturia is temporarily pardoned by the Lateran Curia, but also, the Pope decides to make another daring decision afterwards—secretly anointing Arturia as the new Saint of Laterano under the order of the Law, and he believes that her Arts could be crucial for the Sankta's survival in the "Disaster". For the time being, Arturia could enjoy the limited freedom she earns.

Still, the threat is far from over. Both the Witch King's Pavilion in the Kargereich and the "vision" of the Law predict that the "Apocalypse" is coming sooner than expected. Whatever it may be, the hour of twilight for Terra is nigh...
