The Cyclopes (singular: Cyclops) are a “subrace”/tribe of the Sarkaz.
Overview
Cyclopes resemble the eponymous one-eyed giant in Greek mythology such as horns, a taller stature, and having a "third" eye. Nevertheless, their divinity and association with human destinies make them more akin to the Norns in Norse mythology.
As the representation of their tribe, the Cyclopes' third eye allows them to make prophecies. While this is considered a form of Originium Arts, their prophecies actually derive from the sorrowful collective consciences of the Sarkaz races, the Sarkaz's dead souls. Because of its source from the deceased, Cyclops prophesies often end with tragedies. Even though they yearn to change such sorrowful destinies, tragedies always befall upon them earlier than they expect. The prophecies can only be done to see the future but they themselves cannot use it to look for the past events.[1]
Cyclopes are some of the least understood Sarkaz tribes, even among other Sarkaz. In fact, the last record about their presence was around a century and a decade ago, and they have since vanished in written history. This is because their hopelessness on tragic fate made them unwilling to make contact with the outside world, hence leading to their preference of a hermit lifestyle in caves and mountains.
Cyclopes were once a member of the Royal Court's "Ten Kings",[2] and at one point before the Terran common era, the matriarch of the Cyclops Court at the time, The Advocate, became the "King of Sarkaz". But she was murdered in a tragic assassination, yet she deemed it as her ultimate fate by embracing her death according to the Sarkaz' collective memories. The tragedy might be one of the many causes for the Cyclops "tribe" to be disappointed with the Royal Court's strong vindication, hence they deserted Kazdel forever. They also foresaw the Collapsal threat from the frigid north; so, many Cyclopes migrated to Sami, and they have since been one of the guardians against the Collapsals in the Icefield alongside the Sami Snowpriests. Even then, many Samifjod have started to despise them in recent years by seeing them as harbingers of misfortune.[1]
Although considered rare and having long broken their affiliation with Kazdel, the Sarkaz Royal Court nonetheless still has an interest on the Cyclopes. Even Theresis wanted to invite them to Londinium during his takeover, only for them to refuse the invitation.[3]
