Trivia[edit]
- OD-8 is considered to be one of the hardest operations ever released in Arknights due to the following:
- The "Essence of Evolution" continuously spawns Originiutant Excrescences and/or Tumors at random, the latter of which greatly reducing the ASPD of the blocking unit that makes it more difficult for the rest to be stopped if the Essence is not defeated quickly enough. In addition, the Essence is practically immune to Physical and Arts damage, and constantly releases shockwaves in its Perfect form.
- Despite High-Energy Originium Bombs being available to be used against the Essence, the player is only given three of them and even then, the Originium Bombs are not as efficient to dispatch the Essence.
- Related to the above, OD-8's extreme difficulty had brought a lot of attention from the entire Arknights community:
- Upon Operation Originum Dust's release in the Global server, #OD-8 became a Twitter trending topic in the Phillipines.[1]
- The CN community made various satirical memes relating to OD-8 such as "This stage has ∞ enemies", "This stage is very 'easy'", or that "Rua Niu (the Arknights level designer) hides all the Originiutants under his mysterious blanket". The latter becomes more popular since later operations also feature strong enemies such as Nourished Reapers and operations that are even more difficult than previous ones.[2][3]
