CELLINIA TEXAS
Cellinia Texas
Wrathful, yet calm. Stagnant, yet ever coursing.
The lone wolf who returned to the rainy city. Nothing has changed in seven years. Perhaps, finishing up the tasks she was given one-by-one will let her leave sooner.

RADIO

A radio that suddenly appeared by the side of the road, currently broadcasting opera music. The person who received it was in such a hurry she did not realize she accidentally smashed one of its corners.

1-1

Civilian 1 Hurry up! The fighting's started! You, over there, if you're not gonna run, at least get outta the way!
Texas This place hasn't changed one bit.
The bystanders disperse in a panic, but Texas remains seated at the table, looking at the pizza that was just brought out to her.
Mafioso A That woman over there. Don't forget to take care of her too.
Mafioso B Didn't you say killing civilians is too messy?
Mafioso A Doesn't count if they're askin' to die.
Mafioso B What the hell's going on? How's she this strong?!
Mafioso A Gah. Just get the job done first and worry about her later!
Texas ......
The food's totally ruined now.
Somebody hidin' under the bar? Looks like the shopkeeper's kid.
No loose ends.
Mafioso B Wanna go back for her?
Mafioso A Wait, hold off on that for now. I didn't get a good look before, but the color of her hair and eyes... We'd better figure out who she is.
2-1

Texas I even gave my lunch money to the boss. Guess I'll look around somewhere else.
......
What's this?
An exquisite poster is plastered to the wall, and the words printed on it are extremely conspicuous: "La Morte di Texas."
Texas stands beneath the wall and looks up.
For the first time since she returned to Siracusa, she feels like laughing.
Texas Heh.
[Received "La Morte di Texas" Promotional Flyer: "This is the first time a famiglia's name has formally appeared in the title of a work of art. The people who awaited it did not realize what this signified: that the winds of change had begun to blow."]
2-2

Father Oh, you're the lady who saved my child! Ah, I'm delighted to see you again!
Texas You're in a good mood.
Father Haha, sure am.
Texas ......
Father That judge over there just told me she knows which famiglia is responsible for this mess, and even promised that she'd get them to compensate me for my losses.
Texas Compensate you?
Father Sounds strange, doesn't it? Judges can't usually do anything to those big famiglie.
But this judge is different. She'll pull through for us, and because of her connections with the Bellones, the other famiglie don't dare lay a finger on her.
Texas ......
Father Having a judge like her around means the world to us.
Texas feels a familiar exhaustion rise up inside her, and she knows exactly where it is coming from–
For a moment, she was worried about the judge's safety and well-being.
But, this worry quickly proves to be unnecessary.
3-1

The guard paces up and down the corridor.
Guardsman ......
......
......
Texas Go ahead and ask.
Guardsman Are you really the last Texas?
Are you really the murderer?
Judge Lavinia was the one who arrested you, but if I recall correctly, you came here with the Bellone boy. Did they have a falling-out of some sort?
Texas ......
Guardsman Not answering, huh...? Let's try something else.
*sigh*... There's so much commotion out there, but it's deathly quiet in here.
If Judge Lavinia didn't close this trial, there'd be more spectators squeezed outside that door next to you than at the box office for a new opera.
You're not going to ask me anything? Maybe what kind of sentence you're in for?
Texas ......
Guardsman Not talking again, huh?
Texas notices water dripping from the corners of the wall due to the humidity of the rainy season. Her own clothes have even gotten wet.
A minor discomfort such as this normally would not bother her at all, but right now, the sensation makes her skin crawl with disgust.
The people here don't care about who died, or why. They only care about a name, an identity. A name that fills them with exhilaration.
Texas leans against the corner, her eyelids weighed down by her exhaustion.
3-2

Lavinia Texas... Would you mind telling me more about your life in Lungmen?
Texas ...I delivered things.
Texas's expression softens slightly.
Lavinia But, it couldn't have just been logistics work, right?
Texas Well... It sometimes gets complicated, but I really am just a delivery girl over there.
Lavinia Okay... So there are no crossbow shootouts, police chases, cops and gangs, that kind of stuff? Back when I was in school, my roommate was way into Lungmen cinema.
Texas You occasionally have some rubber bullets, some drag racing stunts, and... some high-quality vinyls. My friends like those kinds of things.
And, they've also asked me the same kinds of questions. What's Siracusa like? Do they really kill people at the drop of a hat? When you go outside, do you have groups of burly men in sunglasses following you around?
Lavinia Sounds like something some smaller famiglie might do.
Your friends didn't come with you, did they?
Texas No. I...
I actually don't even know how to explain all of this to them.
When all's said and done, I need to go apologize.
......
Lavinia leans forward slightly and raises two glasses of wine from the tray in front of her.
Lavinia To your speedy return to Lungmen.
Texas reaches over to accept the glass of wine, revealing the corner of the poster stashed in her pocket.
Lavinia Hmm? What's that?
Texas Just a poster. Seemed like a pretty good joke at the time, but now that I think about it, it's just a poster.
Lavinia "La Morte di Texas"...
I'll help you finish the rest.
[Received Cup of Red Wine: "Wine has many meanings, one of which is acknowledgment."]
Texas Thanks.
Lavinia Salute.
4-B

The street outside the theater would normally be Volsinii's busiest haunt around this time, but the moment Texas sets foot upon it, everything falls silent.
Civilian 2 Tex...
Before the full name can leave his lips, someone strikes him in the back of the head from the darkness, and he slumps to the ground.
But nobody is to be found within the shadows, until the next man opens his mouth.
Civilian 2 Over here. Keep your mouth shut, and follow me...
With a muffled sound, he also falls to the ground.
Texas stops walking. She stands beneath a streetlight, looking into the darkness around her.
From the darkness comes the sound of a knife cutting through flesh, followed by a thud from a body hitting the ground. The pungent stench of blood gradually reaches the tip of Texas's nose.
Someone is beckoning her into the darkness.
A leading actress from Lungmen is going to be in the upcoming opera. What kind of role will she be playing?
<Dialogue branch starts here>
[Choose "An associate of Famiglia Texas"]
A low-pitched laughter comes from the darkness, but once she walks over, she finds nobody there. Only a radio sitting on the ground, playing a song from an opera.
<Dialogue branch>
[Choose "A rich girl who runs off with Salvadore"]
There is nobody here. Only a radio can be found on the ground, from which a song from an opera is being played.
<Dialogue branch ends here>
The singer's voice is mild and melodious.
Texas A radio? An opera, a singer... What's the meaning of this?
...Sora?
5-1

Texas Sora?
No response. Only a rustling from the darkness.
Texas ...Sora?!
She takes a sharp stride forward–
Sora Huh? Texas! What are you doing here?
At the entrance to a small shop along the street, Sora is humming a tune beneath the lights, an intricate little box resting in her hand.
Sora What's that you've got there? A radio?
Texas Yep. But, it's useless now, so I'm throwing it away.
Sora We still could use a radio for our hideout. I think Croissant might like it.
<Dialogue branch starts here>
[Choose "Hand over the radio" (only available once the Radio is obtained)]
Sora This is a little present I got for you, to celebrate our chance reunion.
Texas gingerly runs her fingers across the small box, suddenly feeling a wave of remorse.
She should've been the one to buy the gift.
She was the one who made her friends worry, who got them involved in this mess. But instead, it is their kindness that she now holds in her hands.
Texas I'm sorry, Sora.
......
Sora As long as you get it.
Just kidding!
What's with the stony expression? Let's head back to our place!
Texas Alright.
Sora! Be careful on your way back. I'll be over soon.
Sora Got it!
<Dialogue branch>
[Choose "Leave for now" (will not progress the story further)]
Tip: If you are missing an item, head to "Critica Artistica."
<Dialogue branch ends here>
5-2

Chauffeur Signorina[note 1] Texas, please watch your step on your way out. We've made it to the Bellone residence.
Texas Thank you.
Texas prepares to push the door open.
But from the corner of her eye, she notices that the chauffeur has not closed the car door to wait out front as usual. Instead, he nervously dashes away, not even remembering to put his hat on.
Just as she hesitates, her outstretched hand resting against the door, the mafiosi to her sides immediately step up and push open the door for her.
A fierce explosion of light and heat erupts in front of her, the men who pushed open the door have been blasted to pieces.
Leontuzzo (*whispers*) Texas?!
Texas Still alive.
Stay down for now, and pretend to be hurt. There's going to be another group coming.
Before I came here, I saw fighting. They should've known that the Bellones and Saluzzos joined forces. The Rossatis are having some issues now too. They wanted a chance to get rid of me, but didn't have the guts.
Leontuzzo Who betrayed us?
Texas The chauffeur. He already ran. But he's not the only one, I'm sure of it.
Leontuzzo ......
Texas Be careful. Someone's coming.
6-1

Lappland Hmm? What brings you here?
Texas ......
Unfinished business.
Lappland Oh. I've been busy working all night.
Texas ......
I just wasted the whole evening.
Can I take that to mean you're behind all of this?
Lappland It's not that complicated, Texas.
I just helped you get rid of some obstacles. After all, I want to see how you tackle the last problem, without those obstacles in your way.
6-2

Texas Leontuzzo will take care of the traitor himself.
Sora also confirmed that she hasn't run into any trouble.
Then, who put the radio there, and what does it mean?
Suddenly, she hears the sound of brisk footsteps approaching her.
Lappland After making a big ol' detour, I suddenly remembered I had to come back to tell you something.
In the darkest hour before dawn, the corpses littering the streets just hours ago had all disappeared.
Lappland hums a little song to herself.
Lappland I put the radio there.
7-1

Emperor Texas, when do y'all reckon you'll be back in Lungmen?
I've already started thinkin' about hangin' a big ol' banner up on our signboard. Declare full-on bankruptcy.
Texas There are still a few things I need to...
Emperor Stop, hold it right there. If you got nothin' fresh or original to say, just keep yer trap shut.
How about a bet? Simple one. Loser listens to the winner. See this strawberry soda I bought on a whim? Hoo-wee. Stuff's too damn sweet.
But it's got a fair bottle cap. So, heads or tails?
<Dialogue branch starts here>
[Choose "Heads"]
Emperor Ohoh? Not half bad.
But whoever said that victory goes to the luckier guesser?
<Dialogue branch>
[Choose "Tails"]
Emperor Ohoh, looks like luck isn't on your side.
Not a good look for ya, Texas.
<Dialogue branch ends here>
Emperor Plus, take a look over there. Everything's goin' to shit. Aren't you planning to head over and help 'em out?
Scattered mafiosi continue to roam the streets, turning their sights onto the civilians now that they've lost their target.
Texas The civilians are as much in the dark as the wise guys about what just happened.
But, we've decided that the famiglie won't be allowed in the new city.
In that case, it's up to me, or Leontuzzo and Lavinia, to tell them what we're about to do.
I'll start with the simplest thing.
Emperor Alright, you do what makes you happy.
But hot damn, it's boring as hell in Lungmen all by lonesome!
