Expeditioner's Joklumarkar: Collapse

From Arknights Terra Wiki

Going into another area or taking damage in battle will increase your Collapse value. When the Collapse value reaches the next level, a new Paradigm will manifest, or an existing Paradigm will intensify.

Collapse is a value that measures how much the surroundings have been influenced by the reality-bending Collapsals, which affects the run's environment by raising the Collapse Level that makes it more likely for Collapsal Paradigms to be gained, which will be further explained below.

Players start a run with a Collapse value of 0, which increases by the following:

  1. Choices in certain Encounters (varies with the Encounter)
  2. Certain Collectibles
  3. Losing Life Point(s) in an operation (+1, which is accounted for at the result screen)
    • This penalty further increases by 1 on Braving Nature +3 onwards, and by 2 with the Eternal Hunting Squad.png Eternal Hunting Squad.
  4. Entering the 2nd floor onwards (+3, or +4 on Braving Nature +15).
Level Collapse
Braving Nature Braving Nature +1 on
0 0 0
1 4 4
2 8 8
3 12 12
4 16 15
5 20 18
6 24 21
7 28 23
8 32 25
Foldartals and some Collectibles can reduce your Collapse value. Dropping your Collapse value by a level will remove your most recently acquired Collapsal Paradigm.

Certain Encounters and Collectibles as well as the Eternal Hunting Squad.png Eternal Hunting Squad, can help the player in reducing Collapse. Declaring Foldartals also reduces Collapse by 1.

Collapsal Paradigms

All unlocked Collapsal Paradigms, including rare ones

Collapsal Paradigms are similar to Hallucinations and Calls of We Many in previous themes, but all of them are completely detrimental and serves to make the run harder than ever before although they are manageable to a degree. Whenever the Collapse Level rises, a Paradigm will either gained or intensified if one already gained, amplifying its danger. Conversely, whenever the Collapse Level falls, a Paradigm will either be lost or diminished if one is intensified.

Up to four Collapsal Paradigms will ever occur in a run; as the Collapse Level is capped at 8, this means that there can be four intensified Paradigms at most.

IS4 Collapse Paradigm 1.png
   De-quantification
Choosing to spend Hope or Originium Ingots and increasing your Collapse value in non-combat nodes will have a 25% chance to increase the cost by 1
The boundaries between numbers in this area have become blurred. Humans have lost the ability to recognize natural numbers.

   Intensified De-quantification
Choosing to spend Hope or Originium Ingots and increasing your Collapse value in non-combat nodes will have a 50% chance to increase the cost by 2
The concept of numbers itself has become indistinct, and humans have completely lost the ability to use numbers at all.
IS4 Collapse Paradigm 2.png
   Substantial Collapse
4 instances of [Dominion] will appear in battle, allied units on affected tiles have -50 ASPD
Isolated phenomena known as "Dominion" have begun to appear frequently on the land.

   Propagating Collapse
8 instances of [Dominion] will appear in battle, allied units on affected tiles have -75 ASPD
The "Dominion" phenomena is currently spreading rapidly, with an efficiency already near atmospheric circulation itself.
IS4 Collapse Paradigm 3.png
   Non-linear Movement
All [Collapsals] gain Max HP +15% and Movement Speed +15%
The shortest distance between two points is not a straight line.

   Non-linear Action
All [Collapsals] gain Max HP +20%, Movement Speed +20%, and ASPD +20
The fastest path of descent[note 1] is not a line between two points.
IS4 Collapse Paradigm 4.png
   Emotional Entity
Enemies have a 5% chance to appear on the battlefield with +100% Max HP
When inner emotional fluctuations become nourishment and a stimulant to the enemy...

   Terrifying Entity
Enemies have a 10% chance to appear on the battlefield with +100% Max HP
When innermost negative emotions become an actual monster...

   Pan-Society Paradox
Rogue Trader's prices are increased by 25%
The definition of society has been rewritten, and the value of social products has changed as a result.

   Pan-Civilization Paradox
Rogue Trader's prices are increased by 50%, with the price of relatively Rare items increased by 100%
The essence of civilization has been twisted, and the value of all products has become incapable of being explained with common sense.
IS4 Collapse Paradigm 6.png
   Barometric Anomaly
Natural DP regeneration rate is reduced by 20%
Atmospheric pressure is shifting within a range at random, and the movements of non-military crew become sluggish, unable to adapt to such fluctuations.

   Barometric Disorder
Natural DP regeneration rate is reduced by 40%
Atmospheric pressure no longer adheres to any rule, and all matter has unavoidably become redundant from individual distress.
IS4 Collapse Paradigm 7.png
   Injury Trigger
All allied units lose 30% HP on deployment
Life is the premise, and also the price for action.

   Crisis Trigger
All allied units lose 60% HP on deployment
Life is the premise for action, and will also soon become the premise for death.
IS4 Collapse Paradigm 8.png
   Convergence Consumption
When Anti-Interference Index decreases, Max Life Points decreases by 1
Whenever an instrument undergoes wear and tear, its user will feel the same kind of pain.

   Convergence Deficiency
When Anti-Interference Index decreases, Max Life Points decreases by 2
An instrument is like a part of the user's body, the wear and tear on the machine equivalent to the damage its user suffers.
Additional information
  • Propagating Collapse's increased ASPD debuff applies to all Dominions, including those created by "Demon's Blade" (the Vagabond) and those that spawn in operations on one of the possible secret floor layouts.
  • Enemies that had their HP doubled by Emotional/Terrifying Entity are marked by a red aura.
  • The player cannot spend Anti-Interference Indexes if their Life Point cap would be reduced to below 1 when Convergence Consumption/Deficiency is active.

CLASSIFIED

These Paradigms are less likely to be gained than the other Paradigms and are not listed in the Winter Nights Exhibition Hall until actually gained. However, take caution that these Paradigms are very hazardous due to the visual disruption they provides which could make things impossibly difficult.

IS4 Collapse Paradigm 9.png
   Partial Cecity
Life Points and the HP of enemies on the battlefield are harder to discern
Your brain begins to "naturally" skip some information, and this makes you feel comfortable.

   Complete Cecity
Life Points and the HP of enemies on the battlefield are harder to discern, and all enemies gain Max HP +10%
If you can't see it, it doesn't exist. If it doesn't exist, you don't have to think about it. It feels truly great to be so carefree with nary a worry.
IS4 Collapse Paradigm 10.png
   Image Corruption
Allied units are harder to discern
The PRTS operation log is not reflecting any system errors, but for some reason the Operators have been removed from the image.

   Image Blackout
Allied units are harder to discern, and Deployment Cost +1
Even though the present situation has put a burden on your logistics work, PRTS insists that it is working normally, which is not normal.
Additional information
  • Partial/Complete Cecity causes the amount of Life Points to be displayed as question marks instead of the exact value based on the digit (e.g. 5 Life Points.png is displayed as "?"; 12 Life Points.png is displayed as "??").
    • If Partial Cecity is gained after clearing an operation (e.g. by having the Collapse Level rise due to Collapse increase from losing LP), that operation's result screen will be affected.
  • Partial/Complete Cecity's hidden enemy HP meter also hides Elemental Damage meter, weak spot indicator, critical damage, "Miss" indicator, and ammunition count, but the HP meter of large enemies (e.g. "Samivilinn," the Resolution of the Very North) will still be displayed as usual.
  • Image Corruption/Blackout causes the unit's sprite to be obscured in black, making it difficult to identify them by looking.

Tips

  • Compared to losing Light in Mizuki & Caerula Arbor, gaining Collapse is not as punishing as the Collapse Level has specific thresholds, meaning that if the player knows what they are doing, one can avoid getting Collapsal Paradigms quite easily. Most of the Paradigms themselves can also be counteracted without too much difficulty.

Notes

  1. The original Chinese text refers to the brachistochrone curve, which is not kept in the official English localization likely due to confusion or error.
