Operation guide: A Cold Separation

One of the possible Dreadful Foes in Chapter III of Phantom & Crimson Solitaire, A Cold Separation pits the player against the Frost Buck and Snow Doe, a couple of Crimson Troupe stage actors/actresses playing the role of the namesake Romeo and Juliet-like couple in a Sami tragedy folklore with different abilities dealing with the Cold and Freeze Negative Statuses:

  • The Frost Buck uses a melee attack that deals increased damage to Frozen targets.
  • The Snow Doe uses a ranged attack that inflicts Cold for a short time.

As such, the Buck and Doe forms a deadly synergy; the Doe can Freeze friendlies for the Buck to deal critical damage towards them. However, defeating them individually is not recommended as similar to the Corrupted and Withered Knight in Maria Nearl, if either the Frost Buck or Snow Doe is defeated, they will pass on their ability to the other, who also have their ASPD and speed greatly increased. As the result, the surviving couple's attacks will both inflict Cold and deal critical damage to Frozen targets, which, combined with the ASPD buff, allows them to tear apart even the sturdiest of Operators with ease!

The Frost Buck and Snow Doe are supported by many Yeti enemies, including Infused Glacial Originium Slugs whose inflict Cold in an area when defeated and Yeti Icecleavers whose attacks deal heavy damage against Frozen targets like the Buck. In addition, the Buck and Doe will deduct 3 Life Points each should they managed to reach a Protection Objective, for a total of 6 if both leaks.

General strategies

  • The same tactics used against the Corrupted and Withered Knights also apply to the Frost Buck and Snow Doe.
    • Try to defeat the Buck and Doe simultaneously to avoid having to deal with the other's buffs. Since they take different routes, it is best to use two DPS Operators or one with a wide range such as Eyjafjalla with Skill-Eyjafjalla3.png Volcano.
    • If both cannot be defeated simultaneously, it's easier to defeat the Doe first and then use ranged Operators to concentrate on the Buck.
  • Enemies on the bottom lane are weaker than those on the top lane.
  • Use a Defender with high HP and/or DEF to draw fire from the Snow Doe.
  • Lee's Preparedness Averts Peril will block the next Freeze he receives and Stuns the source, thus he can fight both the Snow Doe and even the enraged Frost Buck with relative ease. Just make sure to equip Skill-Lee3.png Honored Guest so that he can focus dueling, and support him with a Vanguard to cover the increased DP drain and a Medic to ensure his survival.
  • The Infused Glacial Originium Slugs and Yeti Casters can be Silenced by Jaye with Skill-Jaye1.png Shell Splitter, Lappland, or with Condensed Suppressant.png Condensed Suppressant.
