The Kazdelian Sarkaz Ascalon is the director of the Rhodes Island branch S.W.E.E.P. as well as an R.I. field operative. Previously, she was a member of the Military Commission of Kazdel and a follower of Regent Theresis until she defected to Babel due to ideological differences, something that Manfred considers treason. She witnessed the fall of the organization in the years 1094 and often blames herself for this and Theresa's death due to her absence during the siege, as the Doctor sent her on a mission away from the landship. Since then, Ascalon will now always stay with Kal'tsit so that the previous mistake will never happen again and vows to avenge Theresa by making those who killed her pay.

Ascalon uses an armblade named "Avenger," which is said to be her reward after accomplishing her first mission for the Commission from Theresis, with Theresa being the one who helped her wear it. For unknown reasons, records of Ascalon's mission participation are omitted from the R.I. database.

Plot

Ever since W joined Rhodes Island, Ascalon was assigned to follow her around the landship and to supervise her actions. After W talked with a boiler worker, Ascalon revealed herself to W by telling her it was time to head to Victoria's capital Londinium for a mission. In the ensuing conversation, she didn't respond to W, even when W was surprised that Ines was still alive. Before leaving, Ascalon stated that they work together for now.
