Provence the Siracusan Lupo Catastrophe Messenger is known for her unusually large and fluffy tail (which she loves to show off), a mutation due to her Oripathy. Not much is known about her background, but Provence had been serving Rhodes Island for a while as one of their Catastrophe Messengers and an aid worker who can protect her comrades with her solid marksmanship skills especially in direct assault operations. Provence is also a friendly person who can interact with others well, though she is wary to Projekt Red due to her notorious "Wolf Hunter" title and Scavenger who shows a one-sided romantic interest on her.

Introduction

Provence is a 5★ Heavyshooter Sniper who specializes in DPS. What defines Provence as a Heavyshooter Sniper is her short range of 2×3 tiles with a 1-tile extension in front (forming a turret-like shape) which is improved to 3×3 tiles at Elite 1, and high ATK in return for above-average attack interval and DP cost that increases in each promotion.

Talent

Hunter's Arrow gives Provence's attacks a 20% chance to deal even more damage which is increased to 50% if the target is on the tile right in front of her.

Skills

  1. Wolf's Eye passively increases the damage dealt by Provence's attacks for every 20% of the target's missing HP.
    • Wolf's Eye allows Provence to quickly finish off enemies that have been whittled down by other Operators.
  2. Prey Seeker greatly buffs Provence's ATK but she will only attack enemies whose HP had fallen below 80% while active.
    • Combined with Hunter's Arrow, Prey Seeker allows Provence to one-shot weaker enemies and critically damage bosses especially if the target is right in front of her, with the skill having a good uptime to boot.
    • The drawback means the potential victims must be weakened by friendlies before Provence can start punishing them with Prey Seeker.

Operator Module

The ARC-X Module, Tail-Care Suit, reduces Provence's redeployment time by 25 seconds (to 45 seconds, or 41 seconds at Potential 3) in addition to increasing her ATK and DEF. Once upgraded, Hunter's Arrow's boosted proc chance is increased and applies to targets on the two tiles ahead of Provence in addition to increasing its damage buff.

Base skill

Catastrophe Messenger α increases the recruitment tag refresh generation rate by 30% while Provence is assigned to the Human Resources Office. At Elite 2, Catastrophe Messenger α becomes Catastrophe Messenger β with a higher refresh generation boost of 45%.

Strategies

Synergies

  • Pramanix is a prudent choice for debuffing Provence's targets with her Natural Deterrent that lowers the DEF of enemies and Weakening effect which amplifies damage taken by enemies at low HP, as is Suzuran with her Foxfire Haze and Binding Circle, and Shamare with her Cursed Doll and Omen of Defeat.
  • Sora's Hymn of Battle adds a flat ATK buff to Provence's ATK which means that with Prey Seeker active her DPS will be further increased to insane levels, especially if Hunter's Arrow is triggered.
  • While Warfarin's Unstable Plasma would result in diminished returns in buffing Provence's ATK (since Prey Seeker's ATK buff is already high), Hunter's Arrow would ensure that Provence can inflict massive damage with each shot.
  • With a block count of 3 (at Elite 2) and great DPS, Centurion Guards can be used to whittle down the HP of enemies so that Provence can start dishing out the pain in every single shot with Prey Seeker.

Summary

Provence is a great introduction to Heavyshooter Snipers who prefers to get up close and personal with her enemies and dealing significant damage once their HP falls low enough. As such, Provence is best utilized in supporting other DPS Operators taking down high-value enemies.
