Lava the Purgatory is the alternate 5★ version of Lava who specializes in DPS and the welfare Operator of Who is Real, awarded by completing the Ask Yourself mission which requires the player to clear WR-4 with Lava the Purgatory's Token.png Lava the Purgatory's Token available in Answer Yourself for 200 Dusk Inkstick.png, 240 Dusk Inkstick.png, 280 Dusk Inkstick.png, 320 Dusk Inkstick.png, and 360 Dusk Inkstick.png.

As the first alter Operator, the Purgatory is subject to the following mechanics:

  • Both Lava and the Purgatory shares the same Trust, but have different Potential, skills (as well as separate skill upgrades/Specialization training), talent, and base skills (as well as separate morale).
  • Both Lava and the Purgatory have their own outfits and dialogues, and are available separately as the player's Assistant.
  • Both Lava and the Purgatory can be present in one squad or the RIIC at the same time.

The Purgatory is identical to Lava in all but stats which is much higher due to her rarity, which also allows her to be promoted to Elite 2 unlike Lava. Notably, the Purgatory's DP cost is one of the highest of Splash Casters before her Potential is accounted for.

Talent

Similar to the original Lava's Quick Skill Usage, Spell Formation restores SP when the Purgatory is deployed and have Casters restore SP, though to a lesser degree than the Purgatory, when they are deployed while the Purgatory is deployed.

Skills

  1. Flame Quenched Dagger extends the Purgatory's range by 1×3 tiles, slightly buffs her ATK, and allows her to attack up to two targets simultaneously while active.
  2. Ring of Hellfire disarms the Purgatory and envelops her and another Operator (and only Operator) with the highest HP within her range in a ring of fire that periodically deals Arts damage to enemies in the surrounding tiles to them while active.
    • Ring of Hellfire is useful to protect the Purgatory and her ally from melee attackers, especially if they have low RES, which at least offsets the fact that the Purgatory becomes unable to attack, though it won't do much against ranged enemies especially Enraged Possessed Throwers who stays in place when attacking and invisible enemies (unless if they are blocked or revealed).

Operator Module

The SPC-X Module, Sarkaz's Knife, extends the Purgatory's range by adding a 1-tile extension up front in addition to increasing her maximum HP and ATK. Once upgraded, Spell Formation's SP restoration for the Purgatory herself is increased.

Base skills

  1. Alternate Personnel has Operators in the Control Center (including the Purgatory herself) recover 0.05 morale per hour for every alternate Operator (also including the Purgatory herself) there while the Purgatory is assigned to the Control Center, which stacks with other similar base skills (including itself!).
  2. Heat Charge γ increases the Drone.png Drone recovery rate by 20% while the Purgatory is assigned to a Power Plant.

Summary

Lava the Purgatory is a solid Splash Caster and a good introduction to alter Operators who performs better than Lava and is superior, if not comparable, to other Splash Casters of the same rarity, so expect that players will use Purgatory more often than Lava in most situations. Lava truly had grown like a fine wine; the older the better.
