Hailing from the land of Minos, Vulcan the Forte craftsman and blacksmith joined Rhodes Island after having an accident which led to her right limbs replaced by a prosthetic one and later contracting Oripathy to treat her condition. In her service to R.I.'s Engineering Department, Vulcan is knownf for being able to repair equipment even amidst the heat of battle and can even fix the most complicated gears in record time, as well as keeping the equipment of R.I. operators in good shape and creating weapons tailored specifically to the user's needs with materials she collected herself. On the battlefield, Vulcan acts as an offensive defender who can hold back enemies just as well as fighting them.

Vulcan later become Ceobe's guardian and helped her investigating a Minoan axe with her name carved on it.

Introduction

Vulcan is a 5★ Juggernaut Defender who specializes in DPS and Survival, and is only available through recruitment – specifically by combining the Defender or Defense tag with the Survival tag, or using Vulcan and Indra Recruitment Voucher.png Vulcan and Indra Recruitment Voucher awarded through Path to Glory. What defines Vulcan as a Juggernaut Defender is her higher HP and ATK than other Defenders as well as innate RES, and can block up to two enemies initially or three once promoted to Elite 1, but cannot be actively healed by friendly units (passive healing such as Bard Supporters' trait will still heal Vulcan). Another thing to note is Vulcan's high DP cost of 35 at Elite 2.

Talent

Self-Defense gives Vulcan HP regeneration while her skill is active. At Elite 2, Self-Defense also gives Vulcan a chance to dodge Physical melee attacks.

Skills

  1. Guardian Mode buffs Vulcan's DEF, gives her HP regeneration (which stacks with Self-Defense), and increases her block count by one while active.
  2. Combat Mode buffs Vulcan's ATK and makes her attacks hit multiple enemies equal to her block count and restore some HP in each hit, but increases her attack interval and reduces her block count by one while active.

Operator Module

The UNY-X Module, The Shaper, reduces the damage taken by Vulcan from enemies she are blocking by 15% in addition to increasing her maximum HP and DEF. Once upgraded, Self-Defense now also restores a portion of Vulcan's maximum HP when her skill is activated.

Base skill

Craftsmanship Spirit α increases Factory capacity by 16 and reduces her morale drain rate by 0.15 (0.25 for Craftsmanship Spirit β) per hour, but reduces productivity by 5% while she is assigned to one. At Elite 2, Craftsmanship Spirit α becomes Craftsmanship Spirit β with a higher capacity increase and morale drain reduction of 19 and 0.25/h, respectively.

Strategy

  • Due to her great DPS and survivability, Vulcan can be used to "spawn camp" the enemy, preferably by deploying her close to a DPS dealer on high-traffic routes and use Guardian Mode to allow the DPS dealer to quickly kill the enemies, or deployed on her own in another route with less traffic and using Combat Mode to dispatch the incoming enemies.
  • At Specialization Level 3, Combat Mode has a high initial SP that allows it to be used fairly quickly after deployment, making Vulcan a good candidate for the "helidrop" tactic (not unlike that of Grani).

Summary

For all of the difficulties in getting her, Vulcan is a good introduction to Juggernaut Defenders who combines the strengths of both the Guard and Defender classes into one package. Her prosthetics may stop her from being healed by her allies, but at the same time, it also gives her a herculean strength that prevents her from dying unless it's a good day!
