One of the possible Dreadful Foes in Chapter III of Phantom & Crimson Solitaire, Fatal Melodies pits the player against the Wandering Puppet, a Crimson Troupe mechanical musical doll whose dastardly song constantly deal Arts damage to friendly units so long as it is not blocked, on top of possessing solid stats and deducting 5 Life Points in the event in enters a Protection Objective. The Puppet is supported by Arts attackers such as the melee Arts Guards and ranged Authorized Casters which means that units with high DEF will not be of much use aside from tanking the Puppet. A Medical Rune is also present on the map (B7), which can help compensating the continuous Arts damage dealt by the Wandering Puppet.

When the operation starts, the Wandering Puppet will spawn either from G12 or at B2 and waits for a while before circling around either lane G or 2 depending on where it spawns several times, stopping at B2, G2, and G10 at times, and finally head towards C4. This gives the player ample opportunity to deal as much damage as they can to the Puppet.

General strategies

  • The following Operators can stall the Wandering Puppet by themselves (or with a bit of healing support):
    • Mudrock with Skill-Mudrock2.png Crag Splitter
    • Mountain with Skill-Mountain2.png Sweeping Stance
    • SilverAsh with Skill-SilverAsh1.png Rules of Survival
    • Elite 2 Jaye with Skill-Jaye2.png Sashimi Platter (must be supported by a Vanguard to keep him on the field)
  • If the above Operators are not available, Gravel or Summoner Supporters' summons can be used to temporarily block the Puppet.
  • Multi-target Medics are recommended over Medical Medics to handle the global DoT.
  • The majority of enemies deal Arts damage, putting heavy pressure on Defenders. It is best to defeat the enemies before they reach the defensive line with Snipers or hard-hitting Casters.
  • Enemies will also spawn from the same Incursion Point that the Puppet spawns from, so be careful that the Puppet-blocking Operator does not become overwhelmed.
