Arknights Terra Wiki:Image and video policy

From Arknights Terra Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

The image policy is a policy regarding naming, categorizing, and proper usage of images or other files in the Arknights Terra Wiki, which also outlines the responsibilities of a user when uploading images or files.

General

File extensions

  • A png is the generally accepted and preferred file extension format for an image.
  • A gif may be used to show a character's moving sprite.
  • An ogg is a compressed audio file that holds and stores audio data. This may be used in Operator dialogue.

Copyrights

Every non-free image is used on Arknights Terra Wiki under the auspices of the fair use doctrine of the United States Fair use law. This means that they are used for informational/educational purposes, meant to identify the subject of an article and to illustrate something directly relevant to the text in its immediate vicinity.

Filename usage

If applicable, there must be a space to separate words on a filename. Filenames such as Pureoriginium.png are not accepted and will be renamed correctly by administrators OR deleted, and the uploader issued a reminder.

On A.I.-generated images

The Arknights Terra Wiki does not allow any form of A.I.-generated images to be uploaded into the wiki, especially if it uses any content derived from Arknights and regardless of whether it is original creations or not; such images will be deleted immediately and the uploader will be given two "strikes".

The below are the guidelines to naming the file name, as well as what license to put using the {{fairuse}} template and the category.

Videos

  • Embedded videos may only be used in articles if they illustrate issues which cannot be expressed by written text at all or only with difficulty. Examples for acceptable videos are game trailers, guides, and fun Arknights-related content.
  • For Arknights trailers and music videos on Bilibili reuploaded to YouTube, please include "(reuploaded from Bilibili to YouTube by [reuploader])" in the captions. This is because as stated in the Monster Siren Records article, some YouTubers monetized CN music videos without paying heed to copyrights.
    • In case of guide and fun videos, only embed them to the wiki if the reuploader has permissions for the original uploader to reupload them, and include "(reuploaded from Bilibili to YouTube by [reuploader] with permission from the creator, [creator])" in the captions. This is because various YouTubers reuploading CN videos to YouTube without the original author's permission are commonplace.
  • Videos for user pages may not be embed to the wiki.
