Operator overview: Mountain

Mountain is a 6★ Fighter Guard who specializes in DPS and Survival. As a Fighter Guard, Mountain has a very low attack interval of ~0.8 seconds and low DP cost of 9 (11 from Elite 1), which makes him excel in dueling enemies with low DEF and can be easily deployed in the early game. Due to the way damage calculation works in Arknights, however, Mountain can only scratch enemies with high DEF especially since his ATK is on the lower spectrum to offset the aforementioned quirk. Defensively, Mountain can only block a single enemy and has lower HP but higher DEF than Dreadnought Guards.

Talents

  1. Forceful Fist gives Mountain's attacks a 20% chance to deal more damage and temporarily reduces the target's ATK, which does not stack.
  2. Sturdy Constitution buffs Mountain's DEF and gives him a slight chance to dodge Physical attacks.

Skills

  1. Left Hook has offensive SP recovery, which increases the damage dealt by Mountain's attack and causes it to hit up to two targets within range when charged.
  2. Sweeping Stance allows Mountain to switch into a defensive stance which shortens his range to only the tile in his position and lowers his DEF in exchange for buffing his ATK, increasing his block count, making his attacks hit all enemies within range equal to his block count (like that of Centurion Guards), and gives him HP regeneration.
    • With Sweeping Stance, Mountain becomes a lesser, fast-attacking Centurion Guard who can handle large waves of low-HP, low-DEF enemies without much issue and recuperate himself when the coast is clear, though he should watch out for enemies with high ATK who can easily knock him out.
  3. Earth-Shattering Smash buffs Mountain's ATK and makes his attacks deliver two hits and more likely to proc Forceful Fist, which hits multiple enemies in the adjacent tiles to him and knocks them back with a force of 1, but increases his attack interval while active.
    • While Mountain attacks slower (though still fast nonetheless, around the same rate as Dreadnought Guards), each of his attacks now do even more damage, especially if Forceful Fist procs which became more often than without Earth-Shattering Smash, improving his overall DPS output, and the shift effect can interrupt enemies' attack or ability if given the chance, but take caution that it can push the victims into unintended directions at times.

Base skills

  1. Insider (not to be confused with the Operator) increases recruitment tag refresh generation rate by 20% and makes it more likely for Blacksteel clues to be obtained for each unused refresh while Mountain is assigned to the HR Office, which is influenced by how long Mountain have been assigned to the Office and the amount of recruitment slots.
  2. Columbian History makes the next newly acquired clue more likely to be Rhine Lab ones if the previous newly acquired clue is not the aforementioned while Mountain is assigned to the Reception Room.

Summary

Mountain is an excellent Fighter Guard who is essentially "survival of the fittest" made manifest by crushing all who stands in his way with his flurry of rapid, strong punches and be the last man standing. When Mountain stops holding back, all hell is sure to break loose.
