Sarkaz's Furnaceside Fables: Thoughts

This article pertains to a subject that is not yet released in the Global server of Arknights.

Thoughts are quotations from the Sarkaz's long history that can be used to influence the Sarkaz's Furnace Side Fables run in various ways.

Overview

Thoughts came in three types: Inspiration, Wish, and Idea.

  • Inspirations provide buffs during operations when used. Only one Inspiration can be active at a time; using a new Inspiration will cause the old one to be replaced.
  • Wishes have special effects that are automatically activated at certain conditions.
  • Ideas can be used to enter new paths and refresh nodes.

Each Thought also have two attributes: Value and Mental Burden.

  • Value is a number denoting the Thought's quality.
  • Mental Burden or simply Burden is how much space the Thought takes up in the player's mind.

The player can hold an unlimited number of Thoughts and more than one of each Thought, but they are governed by the Burden Threshold which is initially set to 3 and increases as the player's Command Level increases as well as through certain means.

  • Should the total Burden of the player's Thoughts exceed the Threshold, the player's mind will enter the chaotic state which results in various negative effects depending on the Face the Revenants difficulty level:
    • At Face the Revenants +0 to +4, the Burden effects will be Light.
    • At Face the Revenants +5 to +9, the Burden effects will be Normal.
    • At Face the Revenants +10 to +15, the Burden effects will be Heavy.
  • Should the total Burden exceeds the Point of Stagnation equal to 150% of the Threshold (rounded down), the player's mind will enter the stagnant state.
Mental State Effects
Clear Your mind is clear, everything is normal.
Chaotic
Your mind is chaotic, and you feel burdened.
  • The player loses 1 Life Points.png upon entering a new node (unless if there is only 1 Life Points.png remaining).
  • The final boss has additional traits when defeated; refer to their respective article for details.
  • Friendly units have their DP cost increased by 2 (Normal)/3 (Heavy).
Stagnant
Your mind have become stagnant, and you cannot proceed to the next step.
The player cannot enter the next node until the Mental Burden is reduced!!

The player may consume or discard their Thoughts to reduce the Burden on an operation's result screen or in the node map. Keep in mind that if a Thought is discarded, it will be permanently lost for the run!

The player can assign up to 3 Operators to increase the Threshold at the node map, with each Operator having different Threshold increases based on their rarity and promotion availability:

Other than their main purposes explained above, Thoughts can also be used for the following:

  • Ideas can be expended to upgrade a node through Impressional Reconstruction.
  • In Idea Filters, Thoughts can be expended to provide resources. See below for more information.
  • In Rogue Trader, Thoughts can be sold for Originium Ingot.png Originium Ingot (must have been upgraded with Impressional Reconstruction first).

Idea Filter

The Idea Filter node allows the player to interpret two of their Thoughts for a chance to gain resources depending on the type of Thought:

The higher the Thoughts' Value, the better the rewards will be. The interpretation is not guaranteed to succeed, with the success rate being visible as the Predicted Interpretation scale and there are three possible outcomes of the interpretation process; keep in mind that the interpreted Thoughts will be expended regardless of the result:

  • Messy Thoughts: The interpretation fails and do not give any results.
  • Somewhat Understood: The interpretation succeeds.
  • A Spark of Inspiration: The interpretation succeeds and gives out a better result.

Certain Thought combinations are guaranteed to result in a specific reward; in this case, the Predicted Interpretation scale will read "前路已拼合" instead.
