Operator overview: Dusk

Dusk is a 6★ Splash Caster who specializes in AoE, DPS, and Crowd-Control, and only available from Festival limited headhunting banners starting from Hidden Moon. Being limited banners, the "pity" system from other banners are not carried over to every Festival banner, but to compensate that, Dusk has a 70% chance in Hidden Moon and a 30% chance in Unstrained Liquor, Pellucid Heart, Solitude Universal, and Reap of Millennia to be the 6★ Operator that appears in a pull, and can be purchased at the Certificate Store for 300 Headhunting Data Contract icon.png while a Festival banner starting from Hidden Moon is up.

As a Splash Caster, Dusk's attacks do splash Arts damage to enemies in the adjacent tiles to the target with high ATK and a range of 2×3 tiles with a 1-tile extension in front that is improved to 3×3 tiles at Elite 1, but she has high attack interval and DP cost, the latter of which is tied with Ifrit and Mostima for being the highest of Casters.

Talents

  1. Sublimity slightly buffs Dusk's ATK when she (and Freelings once Dusk could summon them with Finishing Touch and Image Over Form) defeats an enemy which stacks up to a limit.
  2. Finishing Touch makes Dusk's first attack after she is deployed summon a Freeling on the enemy's location.

Freelings are summoned units which can block two enemies and have decent HP, ATK, DEF, and particularly high RES, (which stays the same regardless of Dusk's level) with their attacks dealing Arts damage and have a range of the adjacent tiles. However, the Freelings will only appear if the tile where it is to be summoned into are an open melee tile and will disappear 25 seconds after they were spawned.

Skills

  1. Transcendental Stroke causes Dusk's attack to deal more damage in a larger radius of 2 tiles when charged, which can store multiple charges at higher levels.
    • Compared to Eyjafjalla's Ignition, Transcendental Stroke has lower DPS on enemies with high RES because of Dusk's lower ASPD, but is better at clearing groups of enemies due to the larger radius and Sublimity (see above).
  2. Flowing Ink extends Dusk's range to 3×3 tiles, buffs her ATK and ASPD, and makes her attacks hit all enemies within that extended range while active, with enemies who had fallen below 50% HP taking more damage.
    • Flowing Ink is similar to Gitano's Destiny, but has a shorter duration and lower ATK buff in return for lacking the drawback of Stunning Dusk when it expires and buffing her ASPD as well, and synergizes very well with Sublimity (see above).
  3. Image Over Form expands Dusk's range by adding 3-tile extensions to the front and sides, and the splash damage radius to 2 tiles, buffs her ATK, and summons a Freeling on the tile where the enemy she is attacking were positioned (or refreshes the Freeling by fully restoring its HP and resetting its timer if one is already deployed there), but increases her attack interval while active.
    • With Image Over Form, Dusk can literally fill the battlefield with Freelings to restrict the enemy's movement (unless against unblockable enemies like Wraiths) and making them sitting ducks to Dusk's far-reaching attacks and her allies, which more than compensates her slower attack rate and the skill's very high SP cost.

Operator Modules

  1. The SPC-X Module, Untitled Scroll, extends Dusk's range by adding a 1-tile extension up front in addition to increasing her maximum HP and ATK. Once upgraded, Sublimity's maximum stack count is increased.
  2. The SPC-Y Module, "All Told, A Sleepless Night", cuts Dusk's DP cost by 8 (to 26 before Potentials are accounted for) in addition to increasing Dusk's ATK and ASPD. Once upgraded, Finishing Touch now summons two Freelings with the second appearing on the adjacent tiles to the first, and the Freelings have increased stats and periodically has Dusk restore additional SP.
    • Sleepless Nights should be Dusk's go-to Module, especially if the player prefers to use Dusk's Image Over Form, since it now alleviates the skill's very high SP cost issue and her own issue of a high DP cost.

Base skills

Dusk's base skills provides various improvements while she is assigned to the Control Center.

  1. "Unstirred by Gain" reduces the morale drain rate of Operators in the Control Center by 0.05 per hour and provides 15 Worldly Plights while she has less than 12 morale.
  2. "Unmoved by Loss" increases Dusk's morale drain rate by 0.5 per hour and provides 10 Perception Informations while she has more than 12 morale.

Summary

Despite her sheer rarity, Dusk is not as strong when compared to other 6★ Casters, mostly due to the limitations of her Freelings and Image Over Form, but her ability to both inflict high AoE Arts damage to enemies and distract them with her Freelings can be useful at times.

With her brush and ink, she can literally turn anything into her magnum opus, like how the world is formed by its vitality.[1]
