Operator overview: Jaye

From Arknights Terra Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Jaye is a 4★ Merchant Specialist who specializes in Fast-Redeploy and DPS. What defines Jaye as a Merchant Specialist is his shorter redeployment time of 25 seconds instead of other Operators' 70–80 seconds, but the player will lose 3 DP every 3 seconds when Jaye is deployed – in other words, freezing the automatic DP generation under normal circumstances or "taxes" DP generation in operations where the DP generation rate is reduced. Should the player have less than 3 DP when the DP loss is triggered, Jaye will be automatically retreated, so it is ill-advised to use him in operations where automatic DP generation is disabled, such as Annihilation and Tactical Drill. Furthermore, Jaye does not return DP when retreated; to offset this, he has a low base DP cost of 5 at Elite 1 and maximum Potential, tied with Yato.

Talent

Anatomy Master increases Jaye's ATK against Infected Creatures.

Skills

Both of Jaye's skills are permanent once charged.

  1. Shell Splitter buffs Jaye's ATK and causes his attacks to Silence the target for a short time.
  2. Sashimi Platter buffs Jaye's ATK more than Shell Splitter and makes Jaye's attacks heal a friendly unit in the surrounding tiles (which in the worst case could be Jaye himself) by a portion of the damage dealt.

Operator Module

The MER-X Module, Steel Tool Set, reduces the DP loss imposed by Jaye's trait to 2 DP every 3 seconds (and reducing the DP threshold to automatically retreat him in the event the player have insufficient DP) in addition to increasing his ATK and DEF. Once upgraded, Anatomy Master's ATK buff against Infected Creatures is increased.

Base skills

Jaye's base skills improve Trading Post efficiency while he is assigned to one and considered as among the best.

  1. Street Economics increases order acquisition efficiency by 4% for every 1 difference between the order limit and held orders (e.g. having 0 out of 10 orders increase efficiency by 40%, but having 5 out of 10 orders increase efficiency by 20% instead).
  2. Basic Needs reduces order limit by 1 for every 10% order acquisition increase (rounded down) but increases order acquisition efficiency by 4% for each order held, which cannot be stacked by Snowsant's Heavenly Reward that will override it and the most effective effect will take precedence over the other(s).

Despite the complications and apparent drawbacks, Street Economics and Basic Needs can prove to be effective boost when used correctly, assuming that Jaye is in at least Elite 1 and assigned to a Level 3 Trading Post:

  • Assigning Jaye together with Lappland (at Elite 2) and Texas will boost order acquisition by 97% when there are no uncollected orders (due to the former's Hidden Purpose β providing +4 order limit and the latter's Feud providing +65% order acquisition rate, but Jaye's Basic Needs will reduce the order limit by 6). However, this will cause Texas' morale to be drained quite rapidly (even when she is at Elite 2, as there will be no slot to assign Exusiai who can negate Texas' morale drain rate increase due to Tacit Understanding).
  • The safest and the most efficient option is to assign Jaye together with Cliffheart and SilverAsh, both at Elite 2, which boosts order acquisition by 95% when there are no uncollected orders (due to the former's Karlan Commercial β and the latter's Lord of Karlan both providing +4 order limit and increasing +15% and +20% order acquisition rate, respectively; but Jaye's Basic Needs will reduce the order limit by 3).
  • Bison and/or Croissant at Elite 2 are also good options.

Summary

Jaye is an eccentric but good introduction to Merchant Specialists who, despite of his mere presence alone putting a strain on the player's DP count and generation, his rapid deployment time and good capabilities makes him a very much usable Operator for many situations, especially in the early game.
