Gavial hails from the Wilderness Will tribe that inhabits the jungles of Acahualla in Sargon. Although she was abandoned by her parents since as a baby, her tribesmen kindly raised her up and let her grow up alongside them. As a child, Gavial also met both Tomimi and Zumama. The former would become her loyal friend and the latter would be her close rival.

However, at some point in her past, Gavial contracted Oripathy after rescuing Tomimi from an Originium-infested iron mine. Even though she was ostracized by her tribesmen due to her illness, the little girl dared to challenge them by participating the Mahuizzotia festival. Her surprising victory once again won back their respect, paving her way to become the next Great Chief and even a candidate as a Lord Ameer in the future.

By the time she grew up, Gavial left Acahualla to study medicine, which she found out to be her calling. After working as a mercenary doctor for some time, she became a medical staff of Rhodes Island. Her precise decision in times of crises makes her a professional combat medic where she could also use her superb fighting skills on the battlefield. On the other hand, Gavial is also feared by others due to her preference on primitive methods in solving problems such as healing her patients through brute forces. Maybe this is why she can lead her tribesman: fist is the only way to subjugate others.

Gavial's alternate version Gavial the Invincible was introduced alongside Ideal City.

Plot

The Great Chief Returns

Gavial receives an invitation to return to her home in Sargon; the Acahuallan jungle. She travels with Ceobe and the Doctor via aircraft, but upon reaching the outskirts of her home, the aircraft encounters anti-air weapons and crashes as a result. The group makes their way to the crash site only to encounter a group of hostile Archosaur. Gavial and co defeat this group but it seems the engine of the aircraft has been stolen. Concerned for what's next, Tomimi appears excitedly to welcome Gavial back home. Tomimi takes the group back to her tribe to rest and upon waking up, gives the Doctor a rundown of what the jungle of Acahualla is like, laying out the tribes and social structure. There's an altercation about thick and thin tails but once resolved, the group heads to the ceremony grounds where the next Great Chief will be decided. While the ceremony begins, Ceobe crashes the party while high on local mushrooms and Gavial proceeds to try and catch her, but Ceobe eludes Gavial so she returns to the ceremony empty handed. Zumama arrives to fight for her place as the Great Chief and after a bit of fighting, Gavial is itching to fight her. She enters the arena and puts the pressure on Zumama but after being on the back foot for long enough, Zumama reveals her trump card; The Big Ugly Thing!!!

Gavial gives it her best but the monstrous machine that Zumama revealed is far too strong and knocks Gavial unconscious. She wakes up shortly after and accepts her defeat but another issue arises. Zumama has been haphazardly mining Originium to produce these machines and pieces of technology, and Gavial isn't happy about it. The risk this poses to miners and tribesman alike cannot go unchecked, so Gavial is determined to confront Zumama about this. The group decides that it's best to first regroup with the other girls and see the sights. Ceobe is still running amok and the group continues to try and sober her up. They chase Ceobe back to Zumama's tribe, where she causes more chaos, but this also gives Gavial a chance to confront Zumama. After a bit of back and forth, Gavial determines that it may have been premature to blame Zumama for endangering the lives of her tribesman. Though Gavial has decided this, a fight ensues regardless, and the Big Ugly Thing now has the aircraft engine to power it. Zumama tells Gavial why she is so determined to either defeat or be defeated by Gavial, but after the rematch begins, the Big Ugly Thing begins to lose control and the group teams up to try and stop it. The group defeats the machine and Zumama concedes the rematch, naming Gavial the new Great Chief, but Gavial doesn't want the title and attempts to pass it on to Tomimi.

Tomimi takes this as the final step in enacting her plan to keep Gavial with her. She reveals that the ceremony was set up by her as an attempt to make Gavial the Great Chief so she would never leave Tomimi again. Tomimi expresses her feelings but Gavial rejects them, telling her that she can't make her stay. Tomimi has her tribe attack Gavial to try and force her into submission, but Gavial effortlessly defeats them. The Doctor lays out how it was Tomimi who shot down the group's aircraft and Gavial proceeds to punish her for putting them all through this trouble. Afterward, the group allows Zumama, Tomimi, and Kemar to accompany them back to Rhodes Island.
