- Her name means "moon" and "grain" in Japanese. Both are important figures in Shinto that are associated with agriculture and fertility.
- Her name could also be based on the archaic rendering of the Japanese zelkova (zelkova serrata), a sacred tree in Shinto culture. In ancient days, the tree was called tsuki (Hiragana: つき; Kanji: 槻), a similar pronunciation with the kun'yomi for "moon." Tsukinogi could be written as 月野木 in Kanji when used as a name, which literally means "zelkova's wood."
- Tsukinogi has the traits of a sika deer (Cervus nippon), specifically the North Honshu sika deer (Cervus nippon aplodontus). Two of which can be seen in her Elite 2 artwork.
- The shrine she once served is likely based on the Kasuga-taisha which is famous for its deer park and its veneration for being a deity's messenger. The shrine was also known to be destroyed by numerous disasters in history.
- Instead of being translated to English, Tsukinogi's module name is transliterated to Japanese in EN server. This is likely because she's a Higashinese operator.
