Sanity
Sanity is a gameplay element in Arknights.
"What is it that distinguishes us from this land? Our breath, or feeling? Or life and death?"
Overview[edit]
Sanity is the "stamina" or "energy" mechanic which allows the player to start operations. Every operation, aside from training operations, interludes, Contingency Contract operations (both the Permanent Site and Rotating Sites), Integrated Strategies, Reclamation Algorithm, and certain Main Theme operations (e.g. 1-11, 6-17) consume the player's Sanity; if the player has insufficient Sanity, they cannot begin the operation. The more difficult an operation is, the more Sanity needed to start them, ranging from 6
to 36
, so it is advised to plan operations one wants to run in a single day carefully.
Since Absolved Will Be the Seekers (CN)/the Babel event (Global), quitting an operation mid-way will return 100% of the Sanity spent if the player has failed or quit the operation for the first time, or 99% (rounded down) otherwise; the operation's Challenge Mode and Extreme Mode operations as well as certain operations returns 95% (again, rounded down) of the Sanity spent instead. For Annihilation operations, the Sanity returned upon quitting or losing all Life Points varies based on the number of enemies defeated. If the game is abruptly closed, the operation is considered to have ended with no enemies defeated, which usually results in a mission failure, but Annihilation just fully refund the Sanity cost.
The above point is no longer valid since the Ato (CN)/Fantasy in the Mirage (Global) update, where operations now fully returns the Sanity spent upon failure or quitting.
When the Control Center of the RIIC is upgraded to Level 4, the player can use Fast Charge which spends Sanity to generate 2
Drone for each Sanity, though using this is ill-advised unless the player urgently needs to fill the gap.
Players start with 82 maximum Sanity (127 from the I Portatori dei Velluti (CN)/Ending a Grand Overture (Global) update) and will have it increased as they progress through levels. The maximum Sanity cap players can achieve is 135 as of the Partial Necrosis (CN)/Code of Brawl (Global) update; from the I Portatori dei Velluti (CN)/Ending a Grand Overture (Global) update, the maximum cap is further increased by 45, thus from Level 117, players will have a Sanity cap of 180. Sanity has a "soft cap" at 999, where restoring it through Sanity restoration items and Originite Prime is no longer allowed. This cap can be surpassed through direct Sanity gain, such as from mails.
Sanity regenerates at the rate of 1 Sanity every 6 minutes, or 10 Sanity per hour. Sanity can also be restored by the following items:
Originite Prime (equal to the maximum Sanity; changed to 135 since the I Portatori dei Velluti (CN)/Ending a Grand Overture (Global) update)
Emergency Sanity Sampler (10
)
Emergency Sanity Potion and
Salted Egg Yolk Flavor Chocolate (60
)
Emergency Sanity Booster (80
)- Grilled Flavor Biscuits and
Top Emergency Sanity Potion (100
)
Emergency Sanity Concentrate and
Amiya's Birthday Cake (120
)
Burger Set For Two (200
)
Reaching a new level also restores the player's Sanity by their new level's maximum amount minus 45.
