Politics

The monarch of Kazdel/Teekaz, the King of Sarkaz, is anointed by the Royal Court, a gathering of kings with powerful, royal Sarkaz lineages, a.k.a., the Sarkaz tribes. The Royal Court was previously called the Ten Kings' Court as there were a total of ten kings representing their tribes, acting as the cornerstone of modern Kazdel. After the crusade two hundred years ago that annihilated the nation, half of the Royal Court was left vacant with the remaining half supporting the current Regent.[1][2]

The Royal Court is represented by the following Sarkaz tribes:

  • Vampires, led by the Sanguinarch/Prince of Blood of the Crimson Court
  • Banshees, led by the Great Banshee's Elegiac Court
  • Nachzehrers, led by the Nachzehrer King
  • Damazti, led by the Damazti Cluster
  • Lich, led by the Lich King's Temple of Knowledge
  • Wendigos (formerly)
  • Gargoyles, led by the Master Architect (formerly)
  • Cyclopes (formerly), led by an unnamed matriarch
  • Diablos, led by the King of Diablo of the Punishment Clan (formerly, extinct)
  • Djall

Along with the Royal Court, there also exists the Senate/Zekenim which is made up of many leading Sarkaz elders, though current information regarding it remains vague.[3]

Sarkaz Kings

Kollam

The arduous battle between Kollam and Balor'sača, the Diablo overlord.

Kollam the Errant Overlord[note 1] is one of the Sarkaz Kings who was once an adventurer before taking up the throne. He brought peace to Kazdel during his reign. Legend has it that Kollam could force his foes into fleeing by a strong mental pressure from his mere presence alone. Kollam went on a journey to the east along with some Sarkaz tribes, after which he disappeared from historical records.[4] Amiya's memory revealed that Kollam and his followers were betrayed by those who initially welcomed his retinue, massacring the civilians, upon which Kollam unleashed his boundless wrath, killing all the traitors before taking his own life.[3]

Kollam wielded a black longsword named Wrathful Cerulean Flame after the azure flame that surrounded it while being held by Kollam himself, which bore an ancient Sarkaz inscription saying "here the fighting stops" on it.[4] After Kollam's death, the Wrathful Cerulean Flame was lost;[3] Amiya's Ying Xiao bears some resemblances to it due to being partially based on Kollam's memories.

His name likely means "their voice" in Hebrew (קוֹלם; pronounced as kolam).[5]

  1. Also written as "Qui'lon" in the flashback in 13-4, likely a translation inconsistency in the English localization.
