[Several Gnawbeasts are spotted around the abbey. Note a Monastery Inhabitant wandering around on the upper left corner.]
<Game paused>
Amiya The enemies bursting into the monastery are disturbing the Residents, and their panic will increase as the battle goes on.
<Game unpaused>
[Some Gnawbeasts approach the Inhabitant, spooking him.]
<Game paused>
Amiya And please take note: when enemies pass by a Resident, their panic level will immediately increase.
<Game unpaused>
[Note a diamond-shaped meter over the Inhabitant that slowly fills up especially when enemies are around it, representing their "stress" or "panic".]
<Game paused>
Amiya <The Holy Statue on the upper corner is highlighted> However, residents can calm down when they are next to a Holy Statue, and they will not be as easily frightened.
<Game unpaused>
[The Inhabitant quickly runs toward the upper Holy Statue and stops to pray; note that his panic fills up slower while the Inhabitant is around the Statue. However, his panic meter fills up and turns red, causing the Inhabitant to start running in fear.]
<Game paused>
Amiya <The terrified Inhabitant is highlighted> Residents will become "terrified" when their panic level hits a certain threshold. When this happens, they will quickly expend their energy by erratically dashing around the map in search of a Holy Statue to pray at.
<Game unpaused>
[Notice that the Inhabitant slowly loses his HP as he runs toward the Holy Statue on the right corner, eventually reaching it as he calmed down and stops losing HP with his panic meter depleting and no longer turns red.]
<Game paused>
Blaze <The calmed Inhabitant is highlighted> Ah, it seems like he's calmed down a little after finding a Holy Statue.
Amiya <The Holy Statue on the right corner is highlighted> Praying at a Holy Statue will effectively pacify the residents and calm them down.
<Game unpaused>
[As the Inhabitant prays in peace, a Gnawbeast moving through the lower corner of the map is unaware that there's a pitfall in their path and slipped to their demise. However, said pitfall is close to the Holy Statue on the left corner of the map, meaning if the Inhabitant is panicked again, he will be too terrified to notice the pitfall as he tries to reach the Statue!]
<Game paused>
Blaze <The pitfall is highlighted> Bad news. There's a hole just ahead, and those "terrified" fellas running amok are going to fall straight in!
<Game unpaused>
[More Gnawbeasts show up as the Inhabitant's panic meter fills up.]
<Game paused>
Amiya <The newly available Spare Timber on the deployment menu is highlighted> Don't worry, we can patch up the holes for them with the Spare Timber we have on hand.
[The player is prompted to deploy the Spare Timber over the pitfall.]
<Game unpaused>
[The pitfall is now covered in wooden planks that allows safe passage through it, whether by the Gnawbeasts and the Inhabitant.]
<Game paused>
Amiya This should do it for now!
<Game unpaused>
[More Gnawbeasts show up as the Inhabitant is eventually panicked again, but as the pitfall is now safe to travel, the Inhabitant managed to reach the Holy Statue on the left corner and find some solace as the Rhodes Island Operators exterminated the Gnawbeasts.]
