The young Leithanian Lupo and member of the Empresses' Voices Michael Wolfgang came from a rather unconvincing background: his family, House Wolfgang, once oversaw Kreis Lupukarn on the border between Leithanien and Siracusa, and was seen with mistrust by the Kurfürsten due to their connection with the Siracusan separatism of 969 despite being one of the Twin Empresses' allies during the Septemberrevolution. Following a failed uprising instigated by Herzog Jansen Wolfgang, the Empresses ordered House Wolfgang to send their scions to Zwillingstürme to be "re-educated." Of them, only Michael managed to gain the Empresses' favor and earned a place in the Leithanien imperial court and the Empresses' royal guards, with Michael pledging his loyalty to Empress Hildegard Grimmacht.

Following his involvement in the Kaiserinnenfest fiasco in 1100 that ended with Empress Hildegard's "Stimmverlust," Michael was appointed to be the Leithanien imperial court's emissary for Rhodes Island under the callsign "Bassline."
