- Leithanien is a parallel to the German-speaking nations in Central Europe such as the historical Germanic empires (Austria-Hungary, the Holy Roman Empire, Prussia, and the German Reich) and modern Germany and Austria. Its name is taken from the Leitha River, a tributary of the Danube that flows through modern Austria and Hungary.
- Germany and Austria are famous for their classical music, a reference to Leithanien's prevalent musical Arts.
- The monarchs of Leithanien are called Kaisers (German word for "emperor").
- The Leithanian Kurfürsten are obviously based on that of the Holy Roman Empire.
- Leithanian confederate system also borrows elements from the cantons of Switzerland.
- Leithanian nomadic cities are parallel to the free imperial cities of the Holy Roman Empire and subsequent German states (e.g. German Empire and Weimar Republic).
- Siracusa's separatist movement from Leithanien obviously parallels the unification of Italy, the Risorgimento, in which the Italian states revolted against Austria-Hungary to unify into a single state.
- While the Güldenesgesatz is a fictional constitution, its parallel could be the Golden Bull of 1356 which established the Kurfürsten system of the Holy Roman Empire.
- The Gallo-Leithanian War is a reference to the Napoleonic Wars, when the members of several coalitions, including the German states of Austria and Prussia, fought against the French emperor Napoleon Bonaparte.
- The Battle of the Four Emperors derives its name from the Battle of Austerlitz, also known as "the Battle of the Three Emperors."
- The consequences of the Battle of the Four Emperors reflect the aftermath of the Battles of Leipzig and Waterloo in our world.
- Prior to the update in Near Light, the EN server wrongly translated the country as Leithania. Nevertheless, both "Leithania" and "Leithanien" are the same since the suffix -ien is the German equivalent of -ia in English.
