- Her codename means "true" or "truth" in Russian.[1]
- The name "G Cuvier" on her jacket refers to Georges Cuvier, a French naturalist who proposed the binomial name of the spectacled bear (Tremarctos ornatus), from which Istina could be based on noted by its scientific name on her coat and her "spectacles".
- Istina carries a book in her Base artwork titled in Cyrillic as Марксизм Ленинизм (Marksizm Leninizm), which literally means "Marxism Leninism" in English.
- Istina's Bibliosmia outfit refers to the smell of books and contains many references to Agatha Christie's works:
- Books labeled "This little pig went to market," "This little pig stayed at home," "This little pig had roast beef," and "This little pig cried Wee Wee Wee." (Five Little Pigs)

- Istina's English CV, Risa Mei, is the first Arknights English CV who previously had contributed to Genshin Impact, where she is the English CV of Sangonomiya Kokomi. She shares this distinction with Anjali Kunapaneni (Cardigan).
- Istina's English dialogues are spoken in a thick Russian accent, and has been massively revamped from the original lines. Most of her quotes are reworded, with a few lines spoken entirely in Russian.
