- The Hateful Avenger has a decent fanbase in the Arknights community for the following reasons:
- Upon the release of Area 59 Ruins, he was known for Contracts which boosts his stats, especially ATK. This made him hard to tackle even using 6★ Operators before Surtr was released.
- Due to the following gimmicks, his rather cool outlook when carrying his katana, and his appearance in the animated PV of Contingency Contract Beta, he has become famous in the Arknights community. The fan community even gives him nicknames such as "the Red Katana (CN: 红刀哥)" in CN or "the Red Weeb" for EN.
- The Contingency Contract theme song Operation Blade has been jokingly used as his leitmotif, especially with this following line: "Yes, I'm on fire!".
- As a matter of fact, the appearances of Red and the boss variant of the enemy are likely due to his popularity stated above. Especially for his boss variant, many see this as an honor for being the alpha and the omega of the entire Contingency Contracts.
- Although not officially confirmed, there is a common belief among fans that Red and "The Avenger" are one and the same.
