Operator story: Absinthe

From Arknights Terra Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Zoya is the daughter of an Ursus policeman serving in Chernobog. During the Chernobog uprising, her mother went missing (being presumably deceased) and her father fell in the line of duty after a failed operation to rescue the students trapped in Peterheim Middle School. Zoya barely survived the Catastrophe that devastated Chernobog. When she was rescued by Rhodes Island, Zoya was in a terrible mental state, and it took her a long time to recover.

Upon her recovery, Zoya volunteered to become security personnel of the R.I. landship under the codename "Absinthe," making use of the gun that once belonged to her late father to channel Arts in combat.

Absinthe: Finding Life Through Death[edit]

See: Absinthe/Operator Record.

During a Catastrophe rescue mission in the Ursine borderlines, Absinthe finds herself trapped in a cave-in with Rosa. She fails to reach anyone with her communicator and is told to rest by Rosa, who had just returned from an unsuccessful search. Absinthe rejects Rosa’s offer to check her leg injury and change her bandages. Rosa’s insistence causes Absinthe to recall how they got trapped and Rosa's head injury, reassuring Rosa that any other Rhodes Islander would have done the same. Their conversation changes to Chernobog, and Absinthe questions why Rosa stayed during the mission despite her lack of search-and-rescue experience. They manage get a signal and move to another location to relay their coordinates.

While waiting for help, an aftershock causes the ground to shake and the two take cover until the quaking ends. Absinthe finds Rosa unwounded but not mentally well, shaking and begging the other girl to kill or help her. Rosa cried out she can't see and continues to murmur deliriously at Absinthe to kill her. Angered, Absinthe berates Rosa for not cherishing her life after many, including Absinthe’s father, sacrificed themselves in Chernobog. Rosa calls out for Sonya and Absinthe understood that Rosa had not overcome her past trauma. She manages to get Rosa to calm down. They sent another transmission for help and were soon discovered. Absinthe is the first to get out of the opening, and despite her own injuries, she extends a hand to Rosa.
