Akafuyu is the illegitimate daughter of a Higashinese Aegir noble from one of the Eight Families of Higashi, known as the Hachi-Daikazoku. She was raised in a temple until an elderly family member took her in. There, she spent her years up to adulthood honing her swordsmanship and leadership. Eventually, she became a samurai under the service of her aunt, a Mitsumoto general of the south who defected to the Kougon of the north. With her mastery of the "Nobukage-ryu" style, Akafuyu rose to prominence during the Higashinese civil war. However, her failure to avoid an enemy ambush led to her exile by the Northern Court. She then joined Rhodes Island, where her reputation as a skilled swordswoman and squad leader precedes her issues with gaming addiction, alcoholism, and short-sightedness.
