- Sami is a parallel to the Arctic region (i.e., Sápmi, Scandinavia, Sakha, Chukotka, Greenland, Alaska, Nunavut), and the nation contains elements from various indigenous tribes of the Arctic and Siberia (i.e., Inuit, Yakuts, Chukchi). The name itself is taken from the Sámi people, one of the indigenous Arctic tribes inhabiting the northern parts of Fennoscandia.
- The predominant Samifjod are of the Elafian race, alluding to the reindeer herding tradition practiced among the Sámi, several Inuit tribes, and other Arctic natives.
- The Sami-Ursus conflict likely draws inspirations from the Russian conquest of Siberia or, to a lesser extend, the Winter War against Finland.
- The few existing place names in Sami has Old Norse/Icelandic origin:
- Fjal Vetrtonn, meaning "Mount Wintertooth".
- Myrkwood (most likely anglicized from Myrkviðr), meaning "dark wood" or "black forest," is probably referring to the actual forest in Germany.
- The Columbian expedition in Sami land alludes to the Europeans' first contact with the Inuit along with their various expedition missions such as the Harriman Alaska expedition.
