• Minos is a parallel to ancient Greece, basically the Classical peiod that is noted by its love of art and its hero veneration. The named is taken from a Cretan king in Greek mythology and the Minoan civilization.
• The three Minoan city-states are named after the historical city-states in ancient Greece:
  • Athenius, the capital of Minos, is basically Athens that was named after the Greek goddess Athena and was famous for being the center of art and philosophy.
  • Lakedaímōn is the transliterated version of Lacedaemon (Λακεδαίμων) that is the antique name for Sparta, a city-state of military and warriors, that is named after the eponymous king in Greek mythology.
  • Corinia is named after the region of Corinthia (Κορινθία) on the Peloponnese peninsula where the city-state of Corinth lies. Corinth was located between Athens and Sparta and acted as ancient Greece's trading hub.
• The war against Sargon is an analogue to the Greco-Persian Wars.
• The Twelve Heroes of Mount Hymnoi are obviously referring to the Twelve Gods of Mount Olympus, and the Hymnoi Wisdom could be a parallel to the ancient Olympic Games.
