• Lugal (𒈗) literally means "king" in Sumerian, and Szargus is basically a re-rendered version of Šarrugi (𒊬𒊒𒄀) in Akkadian, which is basically Sargon of Akkad. Hence, his name literally means "King of Sargon."
  • It is worth noting that šarrugi contains the stem word šarrum (𒈗) which also means "king" in Akkadian. Hence, it has another meaning as "King of Kings," befitting his title.
• Lugalszargus' inspiration could be from two famous emperors of the Achaemenid Empire: both Cyrus the Great, the founder of the empire who is known for his extensive wisdom, and Darius I who is a famous conqueror.
