- A khagan (ᠬᠠᠭᠠᠨ) is the ruler of a khaganate, equivalent to an emperor. The title itself means "Khan of Khans."
- His epithet literally means "black horse" in Mongolian (Traditional Mongolian: ᠬᠠᠷᠠ ᠠᠳᠤᠭᠤ; Cyrillic: хар адуу). Interestingly, in Mongolian culture, nightmare, from which the Nightzmoras are based on, is directly called "khara darah" (Traditional Mongolian: ᠬᠠᠷᠠ ᠳᠠᠷᠤᠭᠰᠠᠨ; Cyrillic: хар дарсан), literally meaning "to be pressed by the Black," and black is often associated with terrible things and demons.
- The Great Khagan himself is obviously based on Genghis Khan, the founder of the Mongol Empire. His reign of terror befits a title given to Genghis Khan, Angolmois, the king of terror prophesized by Nostradamus.
- His in-game title pays homage to Attila the Hun who was titled "Scourge of God."
- With a titanic 5000 DEF, Kharanduu Khan, Scourge of the Land has the highest DEF of all enemies in Arknights.
