- Her name means "night blade" in Japanese. Specifically, she is named after the Yato-no-kami (Kanji: 夜刀の神), a horned snake deity in Japanese folklore appearing in the Hitachi no Kuni Fudoki which is said to bring familial extermination to anyone witnessing them, hence being called an araburu-kami (Kanji: 荒ぶる神, lit. "malevolent god").
- In the Elite 2 artwork of her alternate version, a snake with two horns appears in the bottom right of the background, which is exactly a Yato-no-kami.
- Yato is the first Operator of the 2★ class who has a 6★ alternate version.
