Concept and etymology
- When Ptilopsis is tapped in the Base, she will stand right up straight for a brief time, imitating the "concealing posture" or the Tarnstellung adopted by many owl species including the northern white-faced owl she is named after. She notably will still do this when wearing any of her outfits as well.
- Her full name, Joyce Moore, is likely a reference to Joyce K. Reynolds, an American computer scientist who played a significant role developing many of the basic internet protocols (including Telnet, FTP, and POP), and Gordon Moore, co-founder of processor manufacturer Intel.
Outfit(s)
- Among the Clouds, unlike the rest in the 0011/Yun brand, has a more xianxia approach. It is mainly inspired by Tang dynasty hanfu with a blend of modern fantasy elements.
- According to her illustrator Ryuuzaki Ichi, the original approach of the outfit was to resemble celestial beings in the Celestial Court/Tiangong because of her white hue, but the final result instead resembled more on the Qixi Festival due to the presence of the halved Twin Moons.
- Because of the classical elements, her staff was changed to a guzheng with stone pattern.
Distinctions
- Ptilopsis is one of three Operators whose animal(s) are not only present in their outfit artwork, but also appear in-game when the outfit is worn. The others are Leonhardt and Rosa.
- Ptilopsis is one of three Rhine Lab Operators who is not illustrated by NoriZC, being illustrated by Ryuuzaki Ichi. The others are Dorothy and Mayer.

- When Arknights was first revealed in 2017, Ptilopsis was originally intended to be a Supporter before she was changed into a Medic during development.
