Icebreaker Games (IG) is a seasonal game mode in Arknights and the second cooperative multiplayer game mode after the limited-time Multivariate Cooperation Defence Protocols.
Introduction[edit]
Icebreaker Games is accessible after 3-8 is cleared.
Similar to Multivariate Cooperation Defence Protocols, Icebreaker Games has two players work together to clear an operation. As such, teamwork and coordination is essential to ensure success in IG operations; both players' actions will dictate whether the operation is a success or failure.

Overview[edit]
Squads[edit]
Players has a maximum pre-match lineup squad size limit of 30 per mode, divided into 2 halves: Top Pick and Low Pick Operators. They can be configured via the Squads menu. During pre-match, duplicate Top Pick Operators will be selected by the players to keep, while duplicate Low Pick Operators are randomly chosen by the system.
A lineup of at least 20 Operators are required before starting an operation.
Playing Styles[edit]
Starting from Season #1, players can select the squad's playing style for the modes. Currently there are 5 styles available, each has their own positive and negative passive effect, as well as the Support Item available during operation. At first the Basic Playing Style are available, with the others can be unlocked by using Style Guide, with one being awarded by acquiring 10 Merit Medals.
Matchmaking[edit]
IG operations do not cost 
Sanity to run and players can participate through a matchmaking system with two options: Find Match and Assemble Team.
- In Find Match, the player searches for another random player of equal experience to be partnered with. The player can also arrange for a more experienced player to be their partner as a Coach instead, which is eligible for players who had obtained 3 Merit Medals in at least four Regular Events – Advanced.
- In Assemble Team, the player hosts a session with a unique number; other players can join in the session by entering the number and the host can share the session's number with other players.
Keep in mind that the player can only partner with those from the same server part of the Global server (e.g. EN players can only team up with other EN players) through the matchmaking system!
Modes[edit]
Icebreaker Games have three modes: Regular Events, Positional Football, and Bastion Defense.
Each mode have three different difficulty levels: Beginner, Advanced and Expert, with the higher difficulty available after collecting an amount of Merit Medals of lower difficulties' operations.
Regular Events[edit]
Regular Events play out like a standard Arknights operation would, but with the following differences:
- The Protection Objectives are divided into 2 halves, each belongs to a separate player; when an enemy enters a player's Objective, only said player that would lose Life Points.
- Common enemies are present; when they enters any Protection Objective, both players will lose Life Points!
- The operation is divided into two stages, with each stage having an objective that must be achieved within the given time limit. An extra objective will be added in the second stage. Each objectives cleared will award the players with Merit Medals.
- When a player's Life Point got reduced to 0, all of that players' Operators will be Stunned and are unable to take action and be targeted. After 30 seconds, the player will resume combat and all of their Operators will resume combat as usual. The timer will be reset when any enemy enter that player's Protection Objective during the knocked-out period.
Positional Football[edit]
Positional Football is played like a regular football with combat elements added. The objective of the game is to prevent enemies to score a goal while trying to score a goal for your team. There are no tile restrictions for this game meaning players can deploy both Ranged and Melee operators in the same tiles. In order for the players to fully enjoy the match the operators will receive bonus as follows:
- When an operator is redeployed, their Deployment Point will not be increased.
- Redeployment time for all operators is halved.
- Skills with Automatic SP recovery will have its regeneration speed doubled. All skills will cost 20% less SP.
Bastion Defense[edit]
Similar to usual Annihilation gameplay, but with giant Reclamation Algorithm-like maps. Now it has multiple waves that both players need to survive. During the break between waves, players can re-strategize and upgrading infrastructures to ease the run.
Starting from #1:
- In higher difficulty, has slower natural DP regeneration instead of disable DP regeneration.
- If players survive until the wave 7, they will enter Monument of Trial wave where players try to defeat the target before time runs out.
Post-match[edit]
After the match done, player will get evaluation by merit medal on how they performed, give option to report the corresponding co-op players if they too disruptive, give likes, and sending friend requests

Complete various achievement and gain event currency and new title to use
Photo Album[edit]
After each match done, player can gain photo from partner with random 1 of 5 categories (Distinction, Icebreaker, Unity, Strive, Showcase). Player can check their Profile and Add Friend from here (20 Photos max for each category)
After period of time player can select and submit 5 photos set (1 from each category) to receive 20000 
LMD
Title[edit]
Title have 2 parts – Front and Back. Title can be shown above player card during Pre-match screen, Post-match screen and use in photo description.
Initially player have 2 default titles Ordinary — and — Doctor. Player can unlock new title after complete Milestone mission.
Miscellaneous[edit]
- As Arknights EN's servers are located in North America, players outside NA, Europe, and Australia will experience significant latency issues (ping of >100ms) even if the host shares the same region with the guest. The only way to resolve this issue is by using VPNs.
